Mind altering heat this early in the morning in the second week of April. Nearly 27 at some inland and coastal Hunter sites.

Camden often gets missed on "Sydney Basin" searches because it's in the Illawarra/Southern Highlands's rainfall district (not sure why).

Campbelltown (068257) and the new Holsworthy Defence site (068263) are supposed to be in the Illawarra.

I blame the schools.

34.4C at Albion Park ! Sea Breeze has knocked Bellambi back to sense however. Southerly only about 2 hours away however.

Camden and Campbelltown were moved from the Illawarra to Sydney several years ago (or maybe they just moved the boundary). It makes sense, Camden and Campbelltown are associated with SW Sydney, not Wollongong.

-----
It's now 30-32 across Sydney. The Airport spiked to 32.7 a bit after 11:00 and will probably go higher. The seabreeze is up and running at Bellambi (which is in the Illawarra) but nowhere else near Sydney at this stage. The Southerly is near Ulladulla and seems to be making slow progress.

34.4 is a new April record for Albion Park, although there are only records from 1999. Record for the area seems to be 35.4 at Wollongong University on, you guessed it, 4/4/1986.

35.4 may be challenged given that it is 28.4 at Moss Vale but probably not because there is quite bit of mid level cloud moving over so 34.4C may be the max.

35 in Basin in numerous sites.
Adelaide on track for unprecedented 3 day streak of 33 or above. Currently 34.5.
Has time reversed and we are heading into summer not winter. Bizarro

I wouldnt really even call this a low level heatwave. Places like bathurst is currently 9c above April average over the last week and its set to continue for another week. If it were to be 9c above during january, bathurst would be having close to 40c days for 2 weeks straight. This heat is just absolutely ridiculous.

The change is going to prevent April max record in Sydney being toppled (i think). But its possibly going to be hotter later in week and it is all up for grabs.

Southerly in at Nowra, not that strong as yet.

Now at Kiama; 8c rise in DP's but only a 3c drop in temps (so far).

Sydney Airport has a new April record of 36.2 (old record 35.7) with a couple of hours before the change and not much cloud.

OH could well break its record- just 0.6 to go (now 33.6).

A small taste at what is coming this way by Friday maybe. Ceduna has almost broken its record (current site record 40.8). May still break it today. Nullabor not far off its record.

Yep, and just across the border in the Eucla area of WA record heat coming down from the Pilbara is occurring.
The last time this happened, in 1986, this heat arrived in NSW 4-5 days later to smash all April records then.

35.0C now for Obs Hill and 36.8C at the airport.

The April records were always some of the weaker ones.
