Morning all

Temps here have been running above average too, both max and min.

Looking like a pretty wet week ahead over here in the West. What a suprise. poke
WATL total rain forecast for the next 4 days here is 150mm-200mm. And from 200mm-300mm for the next 8 days. If I am reading things right.
http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsp

Getting some pretty serious wind this morning. Been getting a steady 20-30kts NE since daylight. It has increased a bit in the last hour or so with much stronger gusts.
Will get an anemometer for you one day SF. wink
Mount Read has recorded gusts over 55kts(100km/h) several times in the last 2 hours. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDT60801/IDT60801.95952.shtml

Hi Dave,

And to top off the weekend a dusting of snow is forecast to 1100m on Saturday and 800m on Sunday.
Rain ,hail, wind and snow. Bring it on! Got plenty of wood stacked up next to the old open fire.

Looks like a bit of precip forecast for the West coast over coming days.

Hobart has had light precip but like many places, a long way behind average.

There was some flash flooding around Burnie yesterday morning after 31mm fell in a hour or two. Otherwise falls were lighter. 11mm at home, first and only rain so far in April.

Evening all,
I am up at Great Lake atm and we have had 9.2mm this morning and a further 8.8mm since.
Had 7mm the otherday as well.
Had some heavy showers and very strong winds at my new house site behind the old shack.
I am building a shed on our house site over the next few years. This site is 1120m asl. The Drive way goes up 50m in 300m so should be a great snow board track and very interesting when covered in ice or snow for driving.
Had hail showers today and sleet from 5pm.
Looks wild over the next few days!

The snow is quite low on Mt Wellington. Itís a bit hard to tell with the cloud but it is down to the Ploughed Field on the southern side, so maybe down to 6-700 metres

I've seen sunny days I thought would never end
I've seen lonely days when I could not find a friend

Hi all

What a wild weekend. Very strong winds. Mount Read recorded a strongest gust of 65kts (120km/h) at 0600 this morning. Heavy downpours and hail both days. Cloud has only just cleared from Mount Owen, so I couldn't say to what level there was snow, if any. Fair bet there was at least a light dusting.

62mm in the gauge
143mm in the 4 days to 0900 today.

Just checked out obs for Maatsyker Island http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDT60801/IDT60801.94962.shtml
Maximum gust of 88kts (163km/h) at 0600 today.
Thats having a go!

Mount Wellington managed 78kts (145km/h) at 0400 today.

Hey MH - heat is certainly damned persistent!!!!

As you say - it feels like it may never end. Too dry as well.

Not sure I like the weather of the last few years overly much.

I hope we can somehow get a "cool" cycle for a while instead of increasing heat years.

Temperature this morning had a funny dash symbol in front of it, -0.8. First properly cold, frosty morning of the year, coldest morning since early Nov. Both days last weekend were the coldest max's since September and the coldest April max temps I've had in the couple of years I've been here.

-5.2 at Liawenee, not sure if SF is still up there or not. If he is, he'll be feeling it.

The number of rainy days in the south has been fairly high, just 9 completely dry days in the last 31, or 22 rainy days for Hobart (for 56.4mm of rain). Contrast that with Westbury where we've had just 10 rainy days in the last 33 days (but 115.2mm rain). SF has only had 9 dry days in the last 33 days for 101mm.

Not everyone is feeling this never ending warmth...
