I remember waking up to a big pot of porridge or pea and ham soup bubbling away on the stove in winter at my Grandma's place here in Kingaroy. It's warm now but that could change very quickly.

Fantastic day here, cool morning of 8C followed by a warm sunny day reaching 31C and not a cloud in the sky. Very September like. Back to easterlies from Wednesday onwards by the looks.

7.7C here this morning. Nice cool, below average mornings over the past couple of days. Easterlies have returned, so likely not as cool over the next week.

Thx in advance, always appreciated.

It's just one of those "showers in a cooler onshore flow with some embedded thunder" type setups, not a classic "hot day with strong shear and severe storms" one.

"Yes it would be nice Lani. David Taylor predicted this. Not sure where he got his info from. I think he came to this conclusion from the brutal winter in most of the northern hemisphere along with lack of sunspot activity. I think this country plays by its own rules however, hot hot and more hot. Oh ya, and dry too. At least in my neck of the woods anyway.

It sure does have its own rules. Mid-April and I had the air con on today! Does anyone know if the dry weather encourages processionary caterpillars? They are horrific this year along with the little grasshoppers. Sigh.

Still a fair amount of flying insects around at night driving me nuts. Until we get a bucketload of rain they wont go away IMO.
STILL WAITING!

All this talk about Australia getting the coldest winter on record and entering a mini ice age all originated from a certain person on the Brisbane Weather Facebook page which media like The Daily Mail and other tabloids picked up, circulated and went viral e.g. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5466309/The-map-Australian-see.html

Hi all,

Got out fishing this morning off Caloundra., an absolutely spectacular morning with a light south westerly. The ocean is nice and warm and full of fish and sharks, certainly caught my share. I could really feel the warmth of the sea on my face,

A fair bit of beach erosion on the top of Bribie making the inevitable golden beach breakthrough a few meters closer...

I keep feeling that a solid rain event must be due, perhaps if not soon we might at least see some big ECL’s once the proper south westerly pulses arrive.
Hoping anyway, but in the meantime a few more days like today please.

Reasonably pretty clouds for SE showers. Definitely some instability going on.

Nice surprise storm in the Tweed last night. Got woken up by some close bolts at 4am, before it absolutely hammered down. Sitting on 62mm since 9am. Will re-fill up the swamps again I'm sure and give us another lot of mozzies I'm guessing.
