Interesting that they'd call it then, but it didn't appear in the BOM forecasts till 12 hours ago.

It’s cause they’re busy tweaking records and forecasting for the future wink

Talking with some friends online and we all had a power surge at basically the same time... high level atmospheric EMP? haha

Power surge here too. The eastern suburbs are under the (very) little brother of April 1999.

Not at all.
Just wondering where this came from at such short notice. I don't have my pitch fork out for anyone.
No one spoke about it here. Nor did BOM.
Just trying to get a better understanding of forecasting. Nothing more.

Nearly 19 years to the day. Was reading a Weather Underground article this morning that talked about costliest hail storms. The Sydney storm of '99 was the most costliest hail storm on record in the whole frikken world. So there you go.

First rumble here.

My dad reported pea size hail at Balgowlah a little earlier. Nice little surprise and some much needed rain for down there.

That cell off the northern beaches is putting on a good show.

Just sheet lightning to the East and a few spits of rain here so far.

I see that Sydney Harbour dropped over 6 degrees (to 11.9) as the cell now hammering the Northern Beaches passed over.

It does look like some brief heavy rain is approaching.
