The forecasts don't seem to stack up do they? Whenever there is a setup like this with a north westerly flow the models (and by extension the BOM forecast) seem to overcook the rainfall.

Still Bom claims El Nino watch yet outlooks don't support this...please someone explain why there is a El Nino watch when only one model is showing El Nino in the outlook graph. Am I missing something somewhere.

"The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) remains neutral—neither El Niño nor La Niña. However, warming in the tropical Pacific Ocean and recent model outlooks suggest an increased likelihood of El Niño developing during the Australian spring. As a result, the Bureau's ENSO Outlook is at El Niño WATCH, meaning there is roughly a 50% chance of El Niño developing later in the year (double the climatological average)"

Small shower about the only thing worthy of a mention in the last week or 2. Bloody boring the cold weather.

Has felt cooler, but both the minimums and maximums have been about 1C above the July average.

Looks like a short lived bout of very dry air pushing through our area on Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

Yup, just as I was starting think that we were on the way to warmer minimums. This winter still has some legs yet.

Bored into numbness by this weather.
Roll on the Wet.

I sincerely hope we get a large Gulf Cyclone that heads south and brings a shed load of rain to the middle of Queensland and NSW to break this drought.

I read that but going off the outlooks, it shows remaining neutral, no indication of El Nino...all models minus 1 are within neutral phases.

Yeah its shaping up to be another dud of a wet season. Man we need a cyclone like a red headed child needs a friend.

My predictions for the up coming Wet;
1 Rainfall 200 to 250mm
2 No cyclones within a bulls roar of us.
3 We will have Level 3 water restrictions mid Feb 2019
4 I will be 100% wrong.
