I'd like to think the weather is at least partly to blame.

2016 was truly exceptional in nearly every way with near weekly storm events which dropped off into summer but good storms seen through until February 2017.

Then since that date, crap. Been the crappiest year of weather imaginable (now going on 16 months) and the weather drought still hasn't really ended. Just one or two events for a whole storm season worth seeing. Didn't even see 850 temps drop below -2 barely once all last winter, first year without snow in over 5. Every significant cold pool went east.

Can appreciate the day to day variances TH as they are what make our climate and nature what it is...but damn those endless summer-like doldrums through autumn were tedious. Even the Autumn fogs were over a month behind schedule. Give me sunshine 100 days in a row I'll go mad, give me storms 100 days in a row and I still wouldn't be sick of them.

Last 'Big' event for me which still wasn't even that great, was 6 months ago now. Before that 16 months frown

An absolute magnificent fog. Must have been over 200m deep in the wide valleys up here which is exceptional for a radiation fog. before sunrise practically every square inch including the peaks were buried.

Ok - after a bit of mucking around recovered the time-lapse from http://www.weathercamnetwork.com.au/adelaide_magill.html :-)

if people are interested - the scripts:

#Grab jpgs with start and end frames as in the next two lines

#http://archives.weathercamnetwork.com.au/archive/adelaide_magill/2018/06/04/982x737_063001.jpg
#http://archives.weathercamnetwork.com.au/archive/adelaide_magill/2018/06/04/982x737_105801.jpg

count_min=30;
count_hr=6;
while [ $count_hr -lt 11 ];
do
while [ $count_min -lt 60 ];
do
if [ $count_hr -lt 10 ]; then
if [ $count_min -lt 10 ]; then
echo "wget http://archives.weathercamnetwork.com.au/archive/adelaide_magill/2018/06/04/982x737_0"$count_hr"0"$count_min"01.jpg"
#echo "got 1"
else
echo "wget http://archives.weathercamnetwork.com.au/archive/adelaide_magill/2018/06/04/982x737_0"$count_hr$count_min"01.jpg"
#echo "got 2"
fi
else
if [ $count_min -lt 10 ]; then
echo "wget http://archives.weathercamnetwork.com.au/archive/adelaide_magill/2018/06/04/982x737_"$count_hr"0"$count_min"01.jpg"
#echo "got 3"
else
echo "wget http://archives.weathercamnetwork.com.au/archive/adelaide_magill/2018/06/04/982x737_"$count_hr$count_min"01.jpg"
#echo "got 4"
fi
fi
((count_min++))
done
count_min=0;
((count_hr++))
done

The above is piped to sh next...

Rename the individual files so that avconv is happy:

ls | awk -F _ 'begin {c=0} {print("cp "$0" temp/"$1"_"c".jpg");c++}' | sh

Finally create the time-lapse:

avconv -i '982x737_%d.jpg' -r 5 -q:v 2 fog_timelapse.mp4

Looks like we get a decent watering on Friday. At last.
When do they consider that the wet season has started here?

In the construction industry, the typical break in the season is Anzac Day.

The cold has been savage up here and it's looking like tonight might be the coldest of the lot.

-3.1 at the AWS...my min-max mounted 1 metre off the ground got -5 this morning.

Frost on my car before 9pm tonight and it's already -2.5 or so in the backyard. It's not even midnight!

Ouch - Clare at -1.5degC just now apparent temp -3.7!
Snowtown -3.2 !
Yunta apparent -4.5 - have fun there!

I would expect it to all drop a bit more before sun rise..

Large blocking high seems to stopping any rain getting through. Seems to be stationary or the very least very slow moving.
