Wish it would keep moving West and disappear off the radar altogether!

I once remember a news crew interviewed some people on the street about what they knew about how official forecasts are created - one guy said in a serious way "they just google for it on the internet don't they?"
There is one underlying fact that contributes to interest/knowledge of weather.
The weather is one of the few things in life that humans have no control over. Our main societies today have managed to have an effect on wildlife, topography & many other "natural" commodities. But for the most part, daily weather will (hopefully) always be an organic presence that changes at its will - not at the will of mankind. There is no way of changing what the weather will do today.
** please note I said DAILY WEATHER .... not climate ...... that can of worms is sealed here.**

The skill of predicting the most probable occurrences in daily weather is not something that can be successfully learned online; it takes years of study to become a guru such as Mr Kato. However many try to use the google school of weather and the facebook college of meteorology to get a crash course & post blindly about their misconceptions. Once they are outed a few times, they often grow angry to the stage of denial.

So we have something that we cannot be manipulated or controlled as well as something too complex to understand in 140 characters or less. This just doesn't fit into today's "must have it/ want the beta version/ search engine compatible" lifestyle many have embraced.

Unlike a movie/download/podcast it can't be fast forwarded so their mind wanders to something more pliable.
And that's enough from me , as I've probably lost 3/4 of those under the age of 40 now.... lol.

EC/GFS don't have the high budging until at least Friday next week. Meanwhile, NZ gets slaughtered by cold, miserable winter westerlies till then.

I've suggested it before - but I can't help but think that the virtually-stagnate long wave pattern is partly responsible.

Not sure if you are aware Kazz, weather manipulation through cloud seeding with silver or potassium iodide been happening for many years now, not to mention other projects, most evident during the Beijing Olympics making it rain early in the day as to not disrupt the sports later on & now the Chinese are planning a bigger seeding program on eastern side of the Himalayas, sorry for the off topic but interesting stuff nonetheless. Just wish we had the same conditions here for cloud seeding but not with silver.

Getting slaughtered is an understatement! At least somewhere around the Aus region is getting interesting weather What is with this persistent unseasonal pattern? Very strange or maybe it's nothing new but completely different for this time of the year in my opinion

Oh well, at least we're receiving some nice little showers tonight - no doubt enhanced by the upper trough sitting through CQ. Upper trough weakens rapidly from tomorrow afternoon though.

So it is blowing nearly 30 knots from the SE - why isn't the rain showing on radar being pushed onshore?

Looks like it is to me? The bigger blob further offshore which is hardly moving is probably higher up near the mid-levels where steering is much weaker compared to the lowers.

Looks like in another day or two we will be below average for the month with our overnight lows. Another morning near freezing. Days have been beautiful.

Wynnum Nth Mon min 7.1C, grass min 6.2C.

After being somewhat above average up to the 11th, a total change has occurred with each day since then being below average, bringing the average local temp anomaly so far this month to minus 0.4C.

yeah sure its a tad boring ken , but 24deg with toasty sun & a cool air on your face , light breeze ( notwithstanding what some people need ) , its a delight. So good , its almost worth buying a dog just so you can walk it.

Sure is nice weather there is no denying. But like Ken and other severe weather enthusiasts, I get bored with it as well.Over the years I've got around this by lookin forward to a destination where tropical thunderstorms are the go during our boring winters,l Ike Singapore, the USA Malaysia and Southern Borneo.Of course it's a money thing and not all of us have the luxury .Closer to home Southern W.A. can get interesting as well, but for us here we are gunna have to appreciate what we got until September or so my friends with the approach of our well renowned storm season

Yes maybe boring for "weather events", but the thread is also covers day to day weather so the absence of anything notable is equally a mention of comment.
I have thoroughly enjoyed day temps, feeling the uncomfortably the cooler nights, and appreciated no rain in last week while I repaired my roof.👍
Rain is needed near and beyond great dividing range as you say Ken and I hope it comes soon. Possibilities in the forecast, but more importantly what actually happens does tend to swing so hopefully weather that rectifies rain anomalies is SEQ and northern NSW is not far away.
Day to day weather is the oil in the machine that keeps this forum's continuing discussion healthy 😀
