Excellent photo LRH.

Just the 1mm here so far, judging by the radar we might be lucky and double it!!

Great picture LRH.

---

The Sun's out Here and there's lots of blue sky. It looks like the rain has finished, although the forecast still says 6-15 mm for Sydney and the possibility of a thunderstorm. Can't see that happening.

It looks like Sydney's South West did best, which is good, with around 6 - 8 mm. Also good to see the Hunter getting some good falls.

Nearby Chatswood received 4 mm overnight, OH 3.4. It doesn't seemed to have rained since around 3:00 AM.

Suspect an even slightly shorter straw in Shellharbour.I estimate under 1mm at my home. A mate at ShellCove got exactly 1mm in the gauge.

My rain did not pass the footpath "tree test". Still dusty dry under the shade of trees outside my home.

I cant believe how dark and low some of these clouds are and not a drop, then a skimpy near see through cloud comes along and it rains!! 2.1mm since 9am.

PS there are gusty SW winds as far as the eye can see in the forecasts so it is panning out exactly like what happened after the May 11th cold front. I think there were SW winds for about a week after that and this week looks similar.

Pathetic 2mm here - get more liquid from toddler drool. Not sure why today's forecast is for "thunderstorms" - I'd say that potential was ZERO. As usual all the fun is sitting just off the coast.

Looks like a few heavy showers have popped up in south of the metro, heading north.
The clouds have looked quite stormy today, so I'm not surprised.
On the sat pics, it looks as though there is a little low sitting off the Sydney coast.
Still 15.8 degs here.

There were heavy showers in Nowra this morning, I checked the radar at 6am and it was showing very slow moving green, just a few pixels in size though. I reckon we would have got 10-20mm, driving south of town though the road was nearly dry. BOM only recorded 4mm but the gauge is SW of town. Point Perpindicular scored the edge of some heavy rain a bit later and picked up 15mm in 30 minutes (rain was heavier out to sea too).

That cell is now lightning active homer. Quite compact and nuggety cell. No great height to them but cold enough upstairs for some sparkage

I've been in a shopping mall for about 90 minutes. When I went in, it was sunny and partly cloudy. When I left, the sky looked much more interesting. Red-orange cells are popping into existence in the metro area. It's just started raining lightly.

And there's a peal of thunder, the first I've heard in 2 months. Now a bit of a rumble.

The car thermometer shows 15

EDIT: rain rate picking up, louder thunder.

Yep, just heard the little crackle on AM radio and checked the lightning tracker and there she was!!
And yes Kino, their could be some hail as well.

*edit* and a couple more crackles. I've just heard a rumble as well.

And BOM updated the forecast 7 minutes ago to include the medium chance of showers and the chance of a storm.

Looks like it might just miss me here but geez it looks black towards the east/south east. The sun is out here so it looks more dramatic.

Just checked the daily records for those two sites.
The airport has not been updated so maybe there is someone checking the anomalous rainfall.
Unfortunately the spurious 0.4 at Homebush has been registered in the daily summary page.
