At home. Bit of rumbling - about to get pounded again.

Big heavy raindrops that look like it will splash a plant and all the soil out of its pot.

The reverse is actually true - long term dry causes the ground to compact and not absorb water, causing it to run off.

Dark as night here - amazing cloud height. Moderate rain but there'd be some heavy falls around.

The Davis at my mothers place in Wyoming recorded a rain rate of 174mm/h around 2pm today, so if you can get under the red cores the rates are big!

I must've just missed the red cores today, guesstimating 70-80mm/h at the heaviest. Handful of rumbles too

Speaking of red cores, the last time I remember so many coming off the ocean would be during the April '15 event - they just keep coming. Best the Hunter can hope for is the stuff on the MNC/North coast coming down around the high.

Missed them here to with 33mm/h being the top rain rate today, in fact I've not recorded anything above 60mm/h for the entire event. So while the totals are handy it certainly hasn't been torrential.

Looks like the last major band moving through sydney now. Not much happening out to sea.

And that appears to be the end of it for a while. We got 23.5mm, the best amount for quite some time. Such a shame that so little rain gets one excited!

That rain band has cleared Sydney's North, moving away to the SW. The satellite picture is showing clear sky on its way. As Sidney says, it looks like it's finished.

I had some distant rumbles, plus a flash and a louder peal, around 4:30PM, but apart from that it's been steady light to moderate rain since around lunch time. Sydney East of about Parramatta had 10-20 mm since 9:00, Western Sydney around 3 - 9. Chatswood has had 15. Not a huge amount but useful.

Meanwhile looks like we will be in the drink for a while yet here. Some pretty modest totals in the teens for the Illawarra. Probably not drought breaking but good anyway.

Very pleased with this event really didn't expect much from it, I managed a handy 37.8mm (best rainfall since June last year) from this event which is quite reasonable considering I live 20km from the coast.

Looking very aesthetic at 3pm haven't seen this type of cloud arrangement since January.

Bit surprised how quickly the rain and storms just disintegrated as the night went on, would've thought the opposite. Anyway, good falls where needed, Hunter missing out on significant stuff is a shame but some follow up on the way for inland and coast. Maybe some of the moisture from this N half of the coast stuff can get absorbed into the next system.

Rainfall totals today didn't really get near forecast totals, but with some of yesterdays exceeding totals, it all came out about 50/50.
I didn't get that much here during the period of the event, but a nice hour long period of prolonged steady rain this afternoon was nice. The cooler temps have been lovely too. It's been beautiful having the fire going and listening to rain on the roof.

Currently 20.2 deg's inside, and 11.5 outside.

BTW, I went outside during half time in the STATE OF ORIGIN and was surprised to see a very thick fog so early in the evening. It is even thicker now. I was outside before the game and all I could see was stars and clear skies, so the fog definitely formed very quickly.
I was quite surprised.

Same here, we basically never get fog yet it's everywhere. First time this year.

Yeh. First really big fog for us this year here as well.
Normally there'd have been a dozen or so like this already during Autumn.
Just goes to show how the lack of rainfall has affected the whole clime lately.
Just looking at the latest obs for the Sydney metro - nearly all locations are in the high 90's for humidity percentages.

Several decent storms Randwick-Clovelly area yesterday. Best at midday when 25mm in about half hr. Another at 4.30 produced about 18mm in similar time. Quite loud thunder directly overhead and some street flooding due to blocked drains. Total of 50mm at Randwick to 9am but noticed WU PWS Bronte got 58mm. The event produced 117mm at Randwick, best 3 day fall for 2 years.

10mm here since June 4, 8mm in Singo, haven't checked Cessnock.
More of a low level rut weather here, than a genuine rain event per se, although we did get quite a bit before the 4th June which was very pleasing.
Proper showers look like coming back on the Saturday of the June Long weekend. (which will also be the 11th Anniversary of the June 2007 Pasha Bulker Superstorm)

Chatswood in my locality finished with 41 mm over 5 days, including 38 mm in the 48 hours to 9:00 today. Normally no big deal in Sydney, but this year it is.

Here's how NSW finished the week to 9:00 this morning:

So, basically a coastal event, with little or nothing West of the Divide. Good falls (25+ mm) were pretty much restricted to a coastal strip 20-40 km wide, almost from border to border. Heavy falls (100+) were confined to a narrow strip from about Norah Head to Port Macquarie.

There may be further falls in the next few days. Sydney's forecast has 1 to 16 mm over the next 5 days. Not so much a feast or famine as a snack or famine.

Just shy of 50mm here, which is 40% of what we’ve received this year. Sadly, still 440mm below average. Will take some catching, but still possible. Great start after the dryness.
