Ridiculously cold here today again. Not a lot of rain which is not unusual with NW Cloud Bands for us. Hopefully the warmer SSTS spawn a low.

Looks like we are in for a minimum of 15 days no substantial rainfall, there seems to a succession of cold fronts dumping a lot of snow, but not a lot of rainfall. I'm quite sceptical that this dry spell will let up this winter or Spring even the EC seasonal forecast is going for this dry spell sticking around even into the end of the run which is November. CFS shows a decent anomalies in October, although back to Dry again. Hopefully this changes very quickly as Long-range forecasts do provide some sort of guide, although they are often proven wrong.

Yes some nice sunshine would be nice, but on the flip side I'd be happy to see a full month of rain if its falling in the right places.

I don't think a low is on the cards? But it is marking the southerly change as for it making landfall, definitely coastal areas, how far inland I'm not to sure, it would be nice to see if you get a drink from it.

Very thick fog has formed here quite quickly in the past hour under clear skies.
Periods of light, intermittent rain today, but particularly persistent while watching Bart play soccer this morning. Only about an hour of sun all day. The rest was overcast, dull, wet and almost cold. Couldn't crack 15 deg's today. Again.
And again, the BOM overcooked the forecast max.
12.2 degrees currently.

Well a downgrade in rainfall figures for tomorrow, the latest forecast is for 3-10mm, I reckon we will get double.

They (bom) must have thought the NW cloud band would draw some warmth from the interior, because Alice Springs did cracked 30c today!!

Wrong time of year for that sort of feed. If you look at surface flow there was never any chance of drawing warmer air down, plus with down mixing dragging down the cold uppers it was always going to struggle to 16 at best.

I totally agree. I just wonder why they overcooked the temps?

Those showers are moving Northwards but building Eastwards. They seem to be heading for the Hunter and Central Coast. Will they reach Sydney? Stay tuned.. (to the radar)..

The rain band does seem to be tripping some sort of barrier about 30 km off the coast and suddenly intensifying.

The band doesn't seem to be lightning active, but maybe there is (or will be) a light show off the coast.

I don't think the forecast has changed in a major way. The old one mentioned possible showers. Maybe they adjusted the percentages.

Those showers are slowly closing in on the Sydney coast, now about 10 km off. A small detached cell is coming ashore near Port Hacking.

Just checked the radar after your post Steve and I wasn't expecting to see that kind of activity but it looks good.

Rain band has crossed the coast just north of Sydney,it looks to be loosing it's punch now, after crossing the coast, by the looks.it looks a bit heavier approaching south of EddyG.

Looking like a decent cold change due later next week, all models push a decent cold pool nne up over the SE. At this stage limited moisture and any snow looks confined to higher peaks. For us, frigid sw’erlies yet again.

A very wet Sunday morning here, some very heavy downpours during the night, 22.8mm to 9am this morning.

And I'll bring the beers after work Funkyseefunkydo. grin

It's a bit wet here after some sun earlier. Sydney OH had 4 mm to 9:00 and has had another 1.8 since. Showers seem to be restricted to the coastal fringe in Sydney, but are penetrating further inland in the Hunter. Newcastle has had 14 mm since 9:00.
