Getting hammered on the beaches, easily the heaviest rain this winter. 3 cracks of thunder along with it

Geez, I just heard a huge rumble here, and that is with the television on and the dishwasher going. And I'm a fair way from the action.

Sydney looks like it’s getting torn a new one - impressive squall line, with more lining up behind. Pity the approaching trough will push this stuff away during tomorrow - bout time a Tasman Low actually benefited us!

Just went outside to have a look and saw quite a few flashes.
It looks nasty and I wouldn't be surprised to hear reports of hail.
83 km/h gust at Little Bay at 5.17 pm with this squall line.

Video on Facebook on EWS page of hail at Lake Heights and we had small hail in the City around 1230’ish.

Commuting mayhem in the CBD. Umbrellas only slightly effective. Standing in a queue for a bus... no wonder people still drive

That is interesting and certainly believable given the heavy cells that were nearer the coast.

I was driving on Wakehurst Parkway and it became so heavy I could only see the car in front (just).

Was an intense minute or two as it passed over.

That squall line moved over here. It got very windy with heavy rain (now eased off) , flashes of lightning and thunder. The temperature at OH and the Airport dropped by 4 degrees in half an hour, from a late maximum in the case of OH.

Heavy rain here now.

Given the choice of being stuck in a long bus queue exposed to sideways rain in a gale OR stuck inside a warm dry car, which option would most people take?

Hint. Once that friggin bus finally arrives and you manage to get on before it's full, you are then stuck in traffic anyway. Only you are now crammed into the bus like sardines and your clothes are wet.

I work tradesman's hours and still put up with the [censored] traffic. It's not often though that public transport commuters have to deal with a night like tonight. 1st world problems.
Being self employed, I lost a days wages today due to the rain.
I'd happily put up with a faulty umbrella and a bus queue than have to forego a days wages.
And, for all us weather nerds, a night like tonight is exciting, even though it is a little uncomfortable if one is out in the elements.

Just heard another loud rumble. **Off to check the radar and tracker again.

True Homer, one day of cold and rain and people lose their minds laugh
Imagine big cities like New york or London in winter, be chaos everywhere. Then imagine if a natural disaster struck such a place
