Hi all from Hobart , well another 27 degree max and 30 here in Lenah Valley. So the heat just keeps on coming and looking like a run of at least 25 degrees for the next 5 days. The cooler change has gone from and 18 degree days just 2 days ago to now 22 degrees and by the time it rolls around that will surely go to more like 25 again ! Both night and day averages are currently breaking a 119 / 120 year records. I know along way to go but I hold no hope of things changing .

One thing I DON'T miss in Tassie is the absolute heavy infestation of maniacal plovers!!!

Nah, can't see the record being broken. You have some cool changes getting very close in the south, some brief flakeage possible in the south around Sunday/Monday, then another couple of cool pulses the following week.

I think the worst of the warmth will leave you soon.

Hobart is actually almost identical to Bathurst so far this month with the average max (actual) 25.3 (H) vs 25.4 (B)

For the minimum though, you have been slightly warmer than us. Overall then, Hobart has been warmer than Bx so far in Feb, however, you get a late sea breeze nearly every day - we don't!!! frown

Access has solid rain for the SE next Mon/Tue BUT EC & GFS position the low slightly differently and have less moisture. Hope Access is correct. smile

Hi all from Hobart , visibility id down to 100 meters and the air is filled with thick smoke. Looks like it's from the uncontrolled fire at Maxwell River in the South West according to the TFS website. Maybe I'll put a few salmon out on the deck and smoke them along with my washing. About 20 degrees here and no wind.

That's no fun!!!

One horrid thing about Tassie as Autumn kicks in will be the forestry burns. Of course you are also dealing with those many bushfires still working away in the scrub areas. frown

Morning all

Really liking the look of this 8 day rain forecast for the West coast, from BOM. Having to watch the level in the water tank very closely now. Cant even pump from my spring fed dam as due to lack of flow it has grown large amounts of blue green algae. Never in the last 20 years has this happened before.

I have hopes for the low pressure system in the model down your way on around Monday. It's not a "front" as such but a low forming.

Exactly how and where it forms will determine who gets the rain (or not) Fingers crossed. smile

Well MH2O, Hobart set a record of sorts, never have the first 10 days of Feb all exceeded 21 - for an average of 25.

Launceston all 10 days have exceeded 25 for an average of 28.

True but as I've been saying, some cooler weather is on the way. I think the 2nd half of the month will be cooler than the first.

It better be, otherwise MH2O will melt!! smile

Hi peoples , well yeah we did break a record . Very unusual to have such a run of days like that indeed. The latest news on here is about that particular run and also saying that things may get back more normal next week exactly what Dave has been saying. smile I know Dave says , but I never learn and I certainly don't listen. You are certainly the Tasmanian Guru !!
A few more warm days also mentioned the article , but I can cope with that as long as we get a cooler run after it smile
The smoke has cleared but may return tonight when the breeze drops off ? Got to around 25 degrees here today.

EVAPORATE - indeed that would be correct!!!

If he was Ben Lomond ICE Man (who used to post here) he would melt!! smile

Damned smartarse Snowies!!! grin

Hey H, mate I feel your pain re the heat. I used to sook about it as well when we had too much heat when I was there. grin

If you want a guru - Snowies is it!! He's FAAAARR more knowledgeable about Tassie weather than I am. grin Especially the bits involving snow. He (and Stalefish) has meticulous memories and records re EVERY flake of snow that ever fell in Tassie. grin

As you have previously mentioned Dave, still looking good for a chance of some flakes, hail on the highlands from late Monday through into at least late Tuesday. If Access is on the money with thickness at or below 544 during this timeframe. From BOM valid 11pm AEDT Monday. http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/viewer/index.shtml?type=mslp-thick&tz=UTC&area=Au&model=G

I'd rather just the rain at this point, you can keep the cooler weather for a while yet. Autumn is just around the corner with Winter following right behind it. The cold will come soon enough.

Had light drizzle on and off this afternoon. Not enough to register in the gauge.

Yes Snowies is excellent and not too bad with a few meters of nylex and a sprinkler head either

Not too bad with Durex either... blush crazy

Sorry DaveMmmmmm couldn't resist. Seemed like a good bazinga.

A guru hey, been a few tassie guru's pass through these forums. I reckon you qualify DM. In fact just posting to these forums on a regular basis makes anyone as Tassie Weather Guru.

Perfect morning out there, cool, clear, crisp, sun out - going to be another warm one, before cooler weather from Sunday, even saw a day of 19 in the Cressy forecast.

Tassie weather, never the hottest, coldest, wettest, snowiest, frostiest or windiest - but you can get a good dose of all of them in the same week at certain times of the year.

We are certainly all enthusiasts that's for sure. grin

Now Dan - Durex what the!!!! Are you talking sticky tape or the British Durex??? I can remember a number of embarrassing incidents AT MY EXPENSE but durex? Dementia may well be setting in. grin

ACCESS throws up a solid pulse on Thursday as well, the other models not keen.

I worry though that long term GFS is hinting that the last week in Feb may be VERY hot up this way. Hopefully you guys a bit shielded from that.

Settle down chasps. crazy

Might have to rename this forum the TSCS:

"Taswegian Self Congratulatory Society."

Membership Criteria:

1. Use sprinklers after rain, not before.
2. Call all four seasons in the space of an hour.
3. Post twice on the forum.
4. Employ plovers for insect control in garden.
5. If not a current resident, every post must contain a lament for taswego days.

.... feel free to add..

Hello all.
Last few nights have been a bit more comfortable dipping down to around 13-14 degrees overnight.

Think Dave might be right about us nearly being through the worst of the heat and humidity.
Tuesday looks like we might get rain and wind.
Wednesday looks cooler as well.

W_l, that is a good effort. You've managed to mention heat, humidity, rain, wind and cooler....all in the one post.

All bases covered. smile

Very Taswegian.
cool
