8.6mm here overnight, with heavy stuff sloshing across the Illawarra now - and more stuff building to the NE. Looks like a cold, wet day ahead. Great for the escarpment and edging us closer to average.

However, if 7.5 is the highest until 0900 tomorrow then that looks like the June record for all 4 sites combined. Even beating the 7.9 at Patton Street in 1989.

Tibooburra struggling as well.

Did it make it Kizz?

Edit: quick look and it appears to have. It also set a new low min record on 19 June at -2.5 - so a double record of low min & max. Impressive.

Now where's that BoM / WxZone media release about it.....oh wait....

Its amazing how the Illawarra seems to be a magnet to showers from the NE. Good to have some useful showers even if our great weather is now gone.

Certainly will go nowhere near the forecasted 17įC if this keeps up.

Can't speak for Weatherzone, but a single-site record (high or low) outside a capital city wouldn't normally get a Bureau report outside the records table in the monthly climate summary, and perhaps a tweet.

Broken Hill has the interesting quirk that its coldest day on record was in October (in 1995), thanks to an intense cold pool which also brought snow to ~300m in parts of the Flinders Ranges.

Not sure if the Albion Park gauge is dodgy again as its has been raining consistently here in Shellharbour over last hour. However we are a few kilometres east.

Last night we seemed to miss the Bellambi rainfall here at Shellharbour, just a couple of moderate showers around 10am. Certainly nothing woke me during the night.

All up however more rain than I expected from this little coastal event, and all is welcomed.

Geebus it's black along the escarpment right now - plenty of orographic lift going on.

Max has scrapped up to 14.7 and it's dark, and moody and wet. Perfect.

There have been a couple good falls in the State's West, including 37 mm at Brewarrina to 9:00 and 30 mm since 9:00 at Girilambone. These seem to be have been isolated high totals among many more falls below 10 mm.

Showers have returned to Sydney after a fine, partly cloudy middle part of the day.

Broken Hill's daily records have not updated - http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/IDCJDW2168.latest.shtml. Not sure if this is an unfortunate coincidence.
Or maybe some ETL rule that is applied in the BI process where a record is flagged for additional checking. If it is a rule then that's good but then the BoM needs to apply some more rules that flags suspect data such as the phantom 1.0mm of rain that Steve777 highlighted for Obs Hill last week.

I guess we won't see that until the BoM get a well overdue pay increase. frown

I see some models have pulled off a trick that would make any magician proud; next week's rain event, in Sydney at least, has disappeared! shocked

Yep.
Just noticed that! It's good for me. I can get the slab down earlier now and not have to continue pumping water out of flooded foundations and digging barrow loads of mud out of collapsed trenches.
Not so good for the people that need it however.

I have done barrow loads of soil, gravel and concrete but never mud. That sounds like fun. Not.

A good work out though.

Little bit off topic but yeh, it's not fun. Also costs money and time and also more in concrete. Rain is a builders worst friend when at the excavation stage. The site also turns into a bog.

Anyway, had a few light showers today. Looks like more tomorrow, and then, hopefully a week of clear weather. Get the slab poured and then all is good. Anyway, it can rain as much as it wants everywhere else in the state, as long as it doesn't rain in Castle Hill for a month or so. smile

Yeah good for me too!!
After no work for the first three weeks of the month due to rain and then this last week because of the man-flu, its been a horrible month for work!!

Had 1.1mm overnight and a further 0.5mm since, other than that I think its been mainly fine this past few days.

Yep, no work doesn't pay the bills. It can get really tough at times.
I reckon I've had about the same amount of rain today Eddy. A mill or two. No more. Should be a little more overnight and tomorrow.

Been an amazing day really, good vertical development with the clouds, heavy showers and ECL-looking skies. But cold.

Coast hugging stuff, about to get drenched again. At least the inland is doing well for a change, bit of lightning in that line as well

Radar is amazing for us with a lot more to come. Just wish it was more of a true ne rather than nne but thatís the approaching troughs influence.

A quick 10mm in 10mins here. High rate of 188.8mm/hr.

Getting a few flash bangs to round it off.

Some heavy rain and thunder, would be getting interesting over the city soon.
