My first bet in over two weeks that one, was a pretty happy chappy!! Only watched the replay an hour ago.

I haven't heard any rain this evening, but the gauge has recorded 2.1mm so far tonight.

It's partly cloudy outside after a cool, sunny day. Drove the the Royal National Park and the Northern Illawarra today. Here's the view from Sublime Point this afternoon, elevation 415.41 metres according to the sign. Great that someone measured its elevation to the nearest centimetre. Or maybe it was zealous metric conversion.

The Southerlies on the coast felt pretty brisk. I checked the maxima around Sydney just now and saw 19.1 for Obs Hill. That can't be right, I though, but then remember that OH is warmer than just about everywhere else in sunny conditions with light Southerlies like today. Most of Sydney maxed around 17-18, still warmer than it felt.

I see there are showers showing on the Sydney radar. The forecast says there's a 20% probability of showers on the coastal fringe, but the showers showing up are in rain bands moving down from the North, reaching well inland. Richmond just received 1.4 mm. Maybe more to come for the rest if Sydney.

Nice pic Steve, Sublime Point is a nice lookout. Especially feels worth it when you walk up the strenuous track to get there instead of just driving to the top.

Nice pic and view Steve777

3.0mm to 9am this morning, has been dry since but very dark looking dull day and cold too, I think the temp could struggle to get the forecasted maximum.

I've been looking at all the charts on WZ and they all seem to have the wrong dates? so are the charts correct with the wrong dates? or is just my computer playing tricks on me?

Yeah - same re dates. We've gone back in time! What were those lotto numbers?

I see the BoM have warmed up to a 23/24 forecast for Thursday in the basin. Then a cool down with a few days of decent snow for the resorts.

Winter how kizz likes it. grin

Latest extended GFS has gone bonkers and is flirting with significant rain across an impressie swathe of eastern Oz.

It's nice to dream when in dreamland. grin

Here are my storms (seen at or near home) for the 2017-2018 season. The season was a bit of a curate's egg, good in parts.

Code:
July, August, September: none
October: 22, 26(2)
November: 6
December: 6, 14, 17, 18, 20(3), 24
January: 2, 8(2), 9
February: 9, 10
March: 26
April: 29
May: 30
June: 6,19, 27

So, 24 storm events on 20 days, probably around average for Sydney. The outer West would have experienced more storms, the Tablelands more again. Many formed on the Tablelands and drifted East, falling apart when they came off high ground or met the sea breeze.

December was a very good month with 8 storms on 6 days. The rest was rather patchy. In fact, outside of December 6 to January 9, it was patchy with sporadic bursts of activity in late October-early November, early February and one-off events in late March and April. The events from May 30 to June 27 were more in the nature of 'rain with thundery periods'.

There was only once instance of hail, a few minutes of small hail at Lane Cove National Park on May 30.

Anyway, here's to lots of great storms in 2018/19. I've added a new worksheet, but it might remain empty for a few months.

After a couple of hours of what could best be described as mistg English rain we had a shower me to my east and have borderline moderate rain (we haven't had that often in the past 12 or so months) and then down to a light easterly shower and back up as it kept forming to my east.

Rained for a whole 24 minutes and the surrounding bush is loving it. You could see clear sky above and it was still raining light misty rain for a couple minutes.

Hopefully another one or two more of these showers tonight. *Fingers crossed*

Here in Shellharbour, was hard to tell the boundary between the 1mm of rain last night, and the very heavy dew this morning. Dew that drips from everything vertical.

Indeed. The temp rose very quickly as the humidity dropped after about 12.30 pm.

My mum grew up in Yass in the 1930's/40's, and she has told me of memories of fogs lasting ALL day there.

I've been at Cooma after midday before with fog around and frost still on the ground. It's quite surreal.

Yep looking forward to these few warm days coming up!!

I noticed last week a certain variety of Wattle is in full bloom, probably a couple of weeks early, it will be only a couple more weeks to the other Wattle's start flowering and then you know its a fast downhill run into spring!!

2.1mm overnight and a further 1.0mm has fallen late this evening.

I once experienced an almost all day fog in one of the valleys west of Nowra, was quite fascinating and it only cleared at 4pm when a bit of wind came up.

Heading to Kalkite?

PS: Sunday looks quite coolish but it will be one of those interesting situations were the south coast will be warmer than Sydney/Illawarra. Could be as high as 19 at Moruya, while here it will be about 15.
