Well, if GFS is to be believed, most of NSW are set for an extremely cold and dry end to July, with the 540 line almost constantly parked over the SE of the Country. Hopefully a more s/se stream could give us some showers, but it looks predominantly sw.

Fog must be lifting in Wagga Wagga now. The temperature shot up to 6.6 just before half one.

Experienced a Chilly -1.5c this morning record for the new AWS someone a block away put down albeit in Jan this year. If today hit -1.5c. Can expect a run of subzeroes in my suburb until Monday. Which is very rare for my area considering that the nearest two AWS Holsworthy and Bankstown have mean days below <0 at 2.2 and 0.7. Considering my area beat out Richmond as well.My place could be very chilly in winter comparatively, since i moved here at the end in 2014 and lack of data I could never tell. But one indication is that frosts here are reasonably common, but i assume that frost is due to ground temperature not air.

Certainly a 'courageous' forecast for Sydney minima if it comes off.

Meanwhile, each day is about a minute longer than the last. Soon early risers will notice it.

A combination of both, I have found over the years here for a frost to form the air temp has to be below 2c and obviously the ground temp to be 0c for a frost to form, but this is a general observation for my neck of the woods.

I'm an early riser (normally on site between 6.30 - 6.45 am) and have noticed it for the last week to 10 days.

Well there was some insane amounts of lightning of the coast last night, especially of the coast of Wollongong which was visible up this way, also a few cells lit up around Crowdy Head just south of Port Macquarie. I'm reluctant to show this pic because its sh1t, one because I lost my remote shutter cable and two I made the rookie mistake of leaving my polariser lens on.
This pic is of the cell that was probably just south of Sydney, the reason I'm showing it is the way it lit the sky way above the storm cloud, this happened on quite a few occasions especially when I had the camera pointing North.

Anyone reckon some cold records will be broken? Could be very close!

Couple of very cold nights coming up! This is excellent weather! Sleep is so comfortable.

I grow orchids I worry about them with these frosty mornings, but they are under cover of shade cloth and I have rotating fans that keep the air moving, the fans are set to a timer to start about 2am and stop at say 8am,they have been stopping the frosts from burning my plants so far, temp has been down to -1 but we can get colder, here.

If confirmed that is very impressive and testament to dry that area currently experiencing. Looking at the 30min data the lowest was only -4.8c so seems a bit suspicious at this stage.

You nailed it - looks like Tamworth and Goulburn so far - oh and Parkes & Dubbo too

Bet they’re ‘homogenised’ out of existence or faulty AWS 🙄🙄🙄🙄

‘Grats to WxZone for acknowledging the records! Good to see they don’t always focus on heat. Bet we don’t hear a peep from the BoM tho.

A slow clearing fog has kept the lid on the temp in Bathurst.
It's still only 1.5 C at 12.00 pm.

Just checking other areas and many are still under fog with temps in the low single digits.
Places include Khancoban (2.7), Wagga (2.1), Temora (4.5) and Young (3.6).

Curious to know how cold it gets around Ingleburn/Minto on these colder mornings. The readings at Campbelltown and Holsworthy look quite warm to how cold it seems to be getting. There's often been other mornings where Campbelltown has only dropped to 4-5*C yet the grass and roof were covered in frost. That said though, isn't the weather station on a hill and exposed to wind?

I had a thin layer of frost on my car already at 12:30am this morning, yet Campbelltown was showing 2.7*C, and Holsworthy around 6.6*C.
