-8 at Liawenee last night, must be the coldest temp so far this winter. Reached -3.5 at home which was our coldest (just) - apparent temp was -6 at 7am this morning.
Sunday may have reached 8 in Hobart, but after mid morning the apparent temp didn't climb above 2 for the rest of the day, such was the wind/humidity.

It's effing cold tonight... colder than the usual cold. Can only find 1 night that was colder this early in the night (currently -1) in the few years we've been here and that saw a min of -5.7. Certainly heading toward a -5 if the weather stays constant tonight. It was +1 at 10pm the other night and the min was -3.5

Very cold there Snowies!
I was curious so had a bit of a look back. Hobart has only had 2 below 0 temps (Ellerslie Rd) In the last 18 years. -0.4 in June 2007 & -0.4 again in August 2013. In July 2001 it also recorded a minimum of 0 exactly.

Hi all , the near non existent Winter just continues in Southern Tasmania. 18 c in Hobart with gale force Northerly winds more typical of October. At this rate it will be 25 c by mid August and bush fires raging by September. I really now have no doubt that Winter is a past event in history and is dead and buried except for hand full od days once a year.

Where I was yesterday has a constant 110kmh wind, gusts to 140kph, wind chill of minus 20 and horizontal rain. Although, I was on my bike traveling from Exeter to Hobart, at about the WRONG time lol. It looked and felt pretty wintery to me for 3 hours! Intense front moved in at around 5pm from Brighton to the DEC. pretty much zero visibility, and my Dririder gear stoped working! Plenty of time left for snow this year!

Just in the right place last night, 35mm to 7am this morning, brings the weekly total to a more satisfying 48mm. Guessing it was very marginal snow weather overnight SF, temps look a bit too warm, summit of Mount Wellington just reaching 0 now.

Those two cold fronts on Monday night and late yesterday dropped some good snow over the western tiers, further west of us and over the ranges it looked pretty heavy and to the east the there was a reasonable cover out towards Poatina.
Picked up 25mm all up, took our monthly total well past 100mm for the month (119mm), which is the first 100mm month since last July. Luckily the monthly totals have been pretty consistent without any big months. This last lot of rain has left parts of the backyard feeling a bit soft and water logged.
The wind was pretty intense for few minutes yesterday when the front hit. Whistled through house. Don't often get winds that strong where we are.
