Yep Samboz, best rain in ages here too, tipped out 1.75mm last evening (most of which fell on me on 14th hole), and another 8.75mm is sitting in there at present.

Systems gone southerly now, puts Gippsland rain shaddowed by Tassie, but plenty of moisture left for snow up top! smile

Got to witness some brief snowfall up at Mt Dandenong earlier. There was plenty of hail and slush on the roads to go with it. smile

What time were you there, Alex?

I waited around from 9 till nearly 10:30, and only got some heavy hail (& thunder), graupel and then a few half-molten flakes.

BTW, this is called sleet. Not sure what you got in Wantirna, Duckweather, but I'm pretty sure the temperature at the base of the mountain (5C) was too warm for any of that.

A midday hail shower pushed us to 9.75mm since I poured out 1.75mm last evening to take us to 11.5mm from this pair of changes (only a trace from midweek one).

....the most rain received in 24hrs here since mid February this year.

We where up on Donna Buang Rd. Walked for about an hour from the gap on the Melbourne side.

Had actual fluffy snow falling and 2-3 cm on the ground around 1030.

I'll upload some photos.

Hi DanielB.

Yep there was a burst of sleet, which was running down the windows of my house [south side coming from the SW - west side was protected from weather]. It came with a sudden burst of squally wind - bit like a downburst. Was definitely sleet. Have lived through all kinds of weather in my many years and it was nice to have a change from just hail hitting the house wink smile

Interesting day.

Cheers, Duck.

And a further 4.5 mm to 0900 today. So a total of 11.5 for the vent. Not much but, as Samboz, has said it is, nevertheless the best for quite a while. If Alex, the winds would start coming from the S and E we might get somewhere but the N - SW gets us very little in this area. And these's been a lot of N lately.

Nil rain here today, but a very cold overcast breezy westerly day here. Perhaps a shower or two overnight may arrive.

The pessimist in me saw me poisoning weed at Royal Maffra this afternoon though.

Now over average August 59mm out of 58.6 average month..

Now 10 more days left of month..
