Us Vic's will be sick of the wind by next weekend, not much rain, only adding to those SW to NW exposed regions that have continued to do well over the past month or so:

[edit] - how good is this snow season!

Petros.......I been reading from experts from Antarctica of that winter will longer when Sun starts shine Antarctica with weak Sun Spots so the polar Belt more likely stronger from October to November.

I Can't confirm if SE "Victoria Australia will keep getting late cold winters fronts all way end November and or is Heat from NW WA will push fronts way more warmer.

We just wait see end of September/October see what our weather pattern doing..

Some on climate thread hinting at conditions suitable for rain in SW Aus over coming months, same at AV Weather.

This weeks pair of systems still holding similar to prog's several days ago:

What a windy mongrel night, blew and rattled the house/neighbours all night, highest gust at E/Sale 87kph.

Non recordable sprinkle of rain round 0700.

Day for indoor activities, might find the marbles grin

Yep over the wind. We had a 66 km/h gust at home in Bayles but it was just constant most of the night. Still not as bad as the 80 km/h we had a few weeks back.

Yep terrible wind here Tuesday night, rearranged heaps of backyard articles and felled many trees around N Gippsland.

Havent checked the gauge, but would bet the same as TB's values over past 2 days.

Cold, cloudy and windy outside atm.

5.4mm overnight, 1.4mm today including a good rice sized hail hosing. Coldie Showers away from coast dissolving rapidly as they do when the sun goes down. Max of 8.9c today heaps of sun and all pretty run of the mill in these parts.

Check the earlier pessimism, the showers now coming from SW rather than W s making it inland, well at least to the ranges 3.3c with big shower approaching.

Bucketing Snow at Donna Buang even before the turn off to go up the mountion there was snow on the ground.
Had snow covered roads about a k or so after the turn off road was covered and couldn't go past the first area were you can park snow about 3cm deep though road wasn't closed others went up.
It puked it down from 515pm to 6pm had easy 3-5cm while there car was covered and all the trees and this was still 3ks from the summit amzing heavy snow was unreal.

Amazing heavy snow best ever seen up there was unreal

Had a number of hail showers in Ash-wood during the day and also one huge crack of thunder

Classic Melb cold outbreak love it

9mm and 6.6C wind 28 / 41kph from WNW.

Coolish 'WINTER' day, chill factor o/side would
indicate an indoor pursuit of your choice is the
order of the day!!

Can't remember this much rain in one instance for
quite a while.

Wilsons Prom had a bit of wind, 139kph gusts after 0500hrs.

(BOM Obs 18mm on 12/5/18)

Ooh yes ThunderBob. But this old Duck wouldn't want her old derriere sitting on a frozen pond. I'll just act like a dodo going big-eyed over the sleet that slipped down the windows and the the skids of hail still sitting in the garden for the last hour + half. I am easily pleased grin grin

This a good old winter's day reminiscent of yesteryear - but the water hasn't frozen in the pipes yet, like it used to.

Cheers, I mean quack, Duck wink

Yep Samboz, best rain in ages here too, tipped out 1.75mm last evening (most of which fell on me on 14th hole), and another 8.75mm is sitting in there at present.

Systems gone southerly now, puts Gippsland rain shaddowed by Tassie, but plenty of moisture left for snow up top! smile

What time were you there, Alex?

I waited around from 9 till nearly 10:30, and only got some heavy hail (& thunder), graupel and then a few half-molten flakes.

BTW, this is called sleet. Not sure what you got in Wantirna, Duckweather, but I'm pretty sure the temperature at the base of the mountain (5C) was too warm for any of that.

A midday hail shower pushed us to 9.75mm since I poured out 1.75mm last evening to take us to 11.5mm from this pair of changes (only a trace from midweek one).

....the most rain received in 24hrs here since mid February this year.

We where up on Donna Buang Rd. Walked for about an hour from the gap on the Melbourne side.

Had actual fluffy snow falling and 2-3 cm on the ground around 1030.

I'll upload some photos.

Hi DanielB.

Yep there was a burst of sleet, which was running down the windows of my house [south side coming from the SW - west side was protected from weather]. It came with a sudden burst of squally wind - bit like a downburst. Was definitely sleet. Have lived through all kinds of weather in my many years and it was nice to have a change from just hail hitting the house wink smile

Interesting day.

Cheers, Duck.

And a further 4.5 mm to 0900 today. So a total of 11.5 for the vent. Not much but, as Samboz, has said it is, nevertheless the best for quite a while. If Alex, the winds would start coming from the S and E we might get somewhere but the N - SW gets us very little in this area. And these's been a lot of N lately.

Nil rain here today, but a very cold overcast breezy westerly day here. Perhaps a shower or two overnight may arrive.

The pessimist in me saw me poisoning weed at Royal Maffra this afternoon though.

Had unexpected heavy showers last-night to 4mm and not on radar very well if cold uppers fall showers easy.

Now over average August 59mm out of 58.6 average month..

Now 10 more days left of month..
