Winters are most certainly warming, aye, but men are definately NOT the cause of it; it is the natural cycle of the Earth—in our case, this remarkable winter warmth is owing chiefly to the subtropical ridge steering farther south, too mentioned quite a bit earlier in this very thread.

Not to mention that this pretty much only applies to Australia & New Zealand, and large swathes of the Southern Hemisphere; North America, for example, is yielding colder winters nowadays than it did in the past. But of course, the greenie & Labor hooligans try to make it seem much worse.

I am not willing to go any further with this dreaded topic, due to the rules of this forum.

See, this is why it was banned. AW didn't in anyway attack you but put across some evidence, you on the other hand do nothing but troll on this forum, constantly attacking anyone who doesn't fit in your religion.

Likewise most leftie dogs, you choose to attack me personally instead of my argument. Splendid.

Pfftt, you’re another one to watch mr “the ice age is nigh”. The claims AW made in that post aren’t backed by a single shred of evidence and any halfwit could see his claims like winters only becoming warmer in the SH are laughable. We need to move beyond a situation where anyone can express their views on a matter, no matter how ill informed, and expect them to be respected. Notice, I criticised the ideas expressed.

OK all, let's tone the language down a bit and keep the discussion respectful.

Terms like "halfwit", "stupidity" and "leftie dogs" do not lend anything to the discussion and simply push you one step closer to being banned.

So if you want to continue to discuss this topic, keep it civil and keep the name-calling and emotive language out of it.

Back to topic on hand.

I am mildly interested in next Sunday's snow chances. We "may" just have enough SW/S in the winds to get some moisture east of the divide. There is also the chance of a wrap around cloud band coming up from the south, as long as it beats any Tasman Sea air we could see snow east of Goulburn.

Weatherzone's snow forecast has the level at 600m, but is that just for alpine regions?

850 temps look good from GFS.

By GFS snow may fall around here from early Sunday morning with 850mb temperature getting down to -3°C, but little moisture - as usual - though still too early for a reliable forecast. Later in August GFS shows a massive low developing with heavy rain right on top of ..... the Pacific Ocean. frown

Was thinking/hoping same. Was 27/8 last year when Robertson had a snow event, so seems August is a good chance for such.

I searched ‘kino’ and ‘cold’. 200 results.
I searched ‘kino’ and ‘hot’ . 0 results.
Who has an agenda?

Kino and Funkyseefunkydo - as you have both just blatantly ignored my last post, you are both on your last official warning.

One further post that is not 100% science based with no personal attacks will result in a permanent ban.

Grow up.

That's been the story all Autumn and early winter.

Anyone familiar with this particular brand of weather station?
Is it reliable? Durable? etc?

Matt,

I realise that some discussion got a little personal earlier, hence your first warning. That was probably warranted.
I'm not quite sure what was so offensive with the two posts from Kino and Funky that warranted a final warning.
Surely, the mods need to take a chill pill and allow a little spirited debate on these forums. The last two posts that were warned were not personal.
Geez, this place is so boring it's not funny. Don't make it more boring by jumping on a few inoffensive comments. Sure, warn about personal attacks, but don't go over the top. It just smacks of typical weather people. Boring as hell. Allow some personality and spirited discussion for crying out loud!!

I don't know what we call this season. Mostly warm, sunny days, the occasional cool, sunny day, cold clear nights, not a drop of rain and hardly a cloud. The gardens and lawns are drying up.

I've started watering the building's gardens again. After normal rainfall in June, Chatswood has had 8 millimetres since the start of July, during which time the average would have been about 115 mm and the median about 82. We've had one millimetre since July 5 (42 days).

Its dire. Penrith is sitting on 4.4mm since the beginning of July and 62mm since the beginning of April!

After the hottest Summer and Autumn on record such a warm dry Winter could spell disaster for fire prone area if there';s no rain in Spring.
