Models massively downgrading this system for the metro. Will be lucky to get a few mm out of this system.

The rainless trend continues.

We did have a shower rain itself out for over an hour on Thursday night. It was beautiful but probably delivered about 5 or so mm.

Nothing here, but it looked to be developing very nicely to my north earlier, but it moved to the east not south, then the storms developed on the coast,so nothing here yet just thunder to my NE 1 hour ago.

I expect that lightning striking dry vegetation in the absence of rain would be able to start a fire anywhere.

------

A few places on the Central Coast got good falls, with 24mm at Lisarow near Gosford and other falls around 10-15 mm. Looks hit and miss, you had to be in the right place.

I just saw splitting light rain, enough to briefly switch the windscreen wipers. It was cloudy but it was unproductive cloud. There's nothing near Sydney now, although there are showers moving into the lower Hunter from the North.

----

In terms of temperatures, Winter seems to have returned, with temps now close to average. Sydney will finish August with a range close to 10-20 and likely much below average rain.

Your not wrong about it being very hit and miss, my mothers Davis at Wyoming only recorded 3.2mm...

Only 2mm so far in Lane Cove, not even enough to get the gutters flowing. Tomorrow should yield some higher falls if were lucky.

That rainband shown on the radar as passing across Sydney in the last half hour seems to have produced absolutely nothing. Must have been virga.

Now brightening up.
