The low centre is out near Kandos you can see the circular motion on the radar, there is a few storms developing around it as well,I say when it moves off shore we might get some showers coming back under it from the SE or E,if it moves off shore north of the Hunter.

Would love some coastal showers. Shame that SST's are cold.

Looks like Eddy could be in for a good storm soon.

Overcast and cold here today. Barely cracked 15 but felt colder.
A few short periods of light rain has been it. Not even a mm in total.
Fairly benign system considering the low is passing almost directly over the top of the metro.

Sadly the low dragged most stuff away from us, not a drop since it entered NSW. But happy to see inland get a drink.

Hoping we get the wraparound effect once Low bombs off shore.

On approach the storm had some very sporadic lightning, I probably only saw a half dozen strikes. Structure wise was ordinary at best. Radar certainly was looking the goods.
More importantly it was good to see some rain, I may have only recorded 5mm from the rain band, but i wouldn't be surprised if was double that around Dungog and surrounding areas.

The storm still a long way up the valley.

This was about the time I missed a couple clear bolts.

Whilst everything was happening on the western front, there was some nice structure of to the South-East.

Beautiful photos EddyG - countryside doesn't look too bad considering the dry.

15mm from the event here. We should end up just below average rain for August, which is a good improvement on July.

I recall the BoM forecasting 80% chance of a warmer and drier August. Well they got the rain bit correct, but temperatures look like ending up right on average (maxima) and a little below average (minima). Main exception to this is the Sydney Basin with outstanding warmth and dry yet again.

I'll say I was quite delighted with the lack of rain here. Both days this weekend I had to do 'stuff' outside and was able to get them done despite thinking it would be a right off.

Gratifying to see there was at least some rain in areas that could use it. I mean it's not as though there are many sheep or cattle stations my way.
On my daily commute I see billions of dollars of infrastructure and building work projects. Every fine day is another day of no costly delays.

Glass half full.

Nice pictures Eddy.

The roads were wet when I was out earlier this evening. Chatswood has had a millimetre since 9:00, but Sydney seems to be in a rain hole at the moment. More mostly unproductive cloud today, with a few sunny breaks around lunch time. But as Kizz says, good to see some rain where needed. We need it here too, frosts and lack of rain have turned fields and pastures on Sydney's semi rural fringes brown. Bushland in and around Sydney, to quote a cliche, must be a 'tinderbox'.

Actually, August won't finish that warm in Sydney. While there have been no cold maxima, we've had some cold nights and daytime temps are now average or a little below. August 2018 average temps look like finishing about 9.5 to 19.5 at Sydney OH, that's par for the course for recent years. Bankstown will finish around 5-20, 1 below to 1 above.

I also note that the forecast this morning has two consecutive min temps of 6c on Wednesday and Thursday, which is pretty cold for this late in the season. Iím loving it, true blast of winter in the final week.

A surprise but welcome 15mm here overnight from the wraparound. Takes us to 30mm for the event and for the month, but well short of the average 98mm.

A pittance of 4.25mm for the event here, we just can't crack it for any decent rain...

I can vouch for those...hit the surf at Warilla Beach both days of weekend, and it was bone numbing cold. I would say 15C at best.

However as Kino posted we did get some decent soaking overnight, was hoping for a rumble but it was quiet here.

Still grey and overcast here and quite windy. It hadn't rained this morning that I noticed.

This 'event' has been a bit of a fizzerr here, with 6 mm over four days at Sydney OH and 4 at Chatswood. The total rainfall at Chatswood since July 1 is 11 mm, compared to a July-August average of 156 and median 107.

Still very chilly here with light drizzle. My AWS saying 5.5, with many of the other personal AWS around here around the 6 degree mark. It may not get any higher unless the cloud clears this afternoon. May even get colder with the incoming cold air.
