Seems the change has stalled just south of Kiama. Good 10c difference with it.

4.7C to 31C today.
Certainly up there for diurnal ranges, close but no cigar for a record.

Changes stall along the Illawarra coast, and then speed up after hitting the escarpment and RNP, then they speed into Sydney's southern suburbs and along the coast.

Just on today, it's interesting to note that yesterday afternoons 4.20 pm forecast had "the chance of gusty storms" for today. By this morning, the word "gusty" had been removed.
But indeed, that's exactly what they were, with a 93 km/h gust at Kurnell and an 83 km/h gust at Penrith as the thundery showers passed.
Also, it was incredibly wild here in the two short showers we had this evening.
I wonder why they took the word "gusty" out, considering that's exactly the scenario that panned out and that they themselves had forecast just 24 hrs earlier.

I think itís got to do with the geography, especially Saddleback range.

Forecast top of 16įC, and it quickly got to 19įC at about 10am with that warm westerly. It has since dropped a few degrees with the return of the S/SE winds. I guess BoM did not expect the southerly to be pushed out at all today.

Sunny, windy and quite cool in Sydney now. I think that a second cold front (marked as a trough line on the synoptic chart) passed through Sydney around Noon, dropping the temperature 4 - 5 degrees, e.g: the Airport from a max of 20.6 this morning to just 15.5 now; Bankstown from 21.6 to 17.7. Bellambi is just 14 degrees under sunshine, having maxed at 19 around 10:00.

Like your usual Southerly, it's slowly working its way inland.

The forecasters must have been expecting the cooler air to reach the Sydney area sooner.

Todayís satpic is great, you can see the boundary between cooler and warmer air, much like a summer pic.

After a mild partly cloudy morning, it has become cool and very windy here this afternoon. The wind is howling at times. Certainly that trough that Steve mentioned earlier. Clear blue skies though so a real spring day here. Currently 16.3 degs with an app temp around 9 - 10 degs. Lucas Heights and Sydney AP app temps in the 6's. Brrrrr.

It was cold enough this morning for some short, heavy snow showers to lake level in Jindabyne. I notice it also snowed in Berridale, and dare I say it, probably Cooma AP as well. Not sure about Cooma itself, but certainly a possiblilty.

13-25C today, warmer than forecast so cannot complain.
Westerly stayed around for a while before the temp started dropping fast just before 2pm.
Not a bad day overall.

Happy bday Eddy.

Models all hinting at a fairly unstable period ahead with a trough / ECL DET to dominate mid outlook and onwards. Hopefully itíll deliver much needed rain.

Here, when you add the 8mm we had earlier in the month that hasnít been counted for some reason, we actally had our first average month since March 2017 and it was substantially cooler then average with mins -1.5 below and max -1.1 below.

Latest EC looks AMAZING for this week! Especially for Sydney and south. Models overall have improved this run, which is rare.
