32 mls of goodness from last night's thunderstorms and overnight showers time to spread this wet stuff further inland would be nice!

Wasn't it supposed to rain last night and this morning? Zero here.

23mm here in Burrum Heads overnight. Lots of CGs with a couple of flash bangs to get the heart racing a little. Still no puddles but greening up in the patches where I still have grass. Tanks 1/4 full and dam on 1/3.

A number of places got lightning, thunder and rainfall overnight as some storm activity swept across. Have a look at the archived radar.

Sad news indeed re that guy who was killed by the falling tree on his cabin.
In better news, the light show over the CBD last night was pretty spectacular.

We got some additional lightning & thunder here overnight (around 2:30am) when activity swept across some northern & southern parts of SE QLD as well as NE NSW.

I haven't had a chance to have a close look at today yet but a quick glance suggests a scattering of showers likely to redevelop in the region during the day. Some places could also get a thunderstorm (also helped by the westerly steering winds aloft) but the main focus for severe storms shifts further north & west as the cool change continues pushing through.

Over the coming days, showers still look likely to increase from time to time & possibly tend to rain areas at times but there’ll be periods when it won’t be raining. Should also become a lot cooler during the daytimes with max temps struggling to reach near 20C in a lot of places.
Eventually, some locations near the coast could even get some good falls developing.

Latest scenario from EC via windy and 24hr observed lightning via Landgate below:

And archived radar loop showing the additional showers/storms that swept across overnight:

Looks like a tricky few days with a convergence zone and hints of an ECL. Small changes could easily push the convergence zone or possible ECL around enough to make the difference between mostly fine and potential flooding for any specific location.

Monstrous cell heading through Dalby at the moment, haven't seen something that big in a while.

Anyone in Kingaroy I'd have eyes to the S.

Yeah, just noticed that, I only checked the radar because my dog started panting (thunderstorm anxiety), so she's always my first alert to any storm activity, even if it's not local. That's a massive black core!

I thought that as well... I've only ever seen the Marburg reach a maximum intensity of red/maroon (where the Stapy has rendered it black). So, that's a worry! Must be getting smashed out there.

That cell has been labelled on facebook as a supercell, tornado cannot be ruled out, if you are in it's path, seek shelter immediately as the damage path will be significant. WOW.

BOM, 22 minutes ago has the arrow pointing straight at Kingaroy. "This thunderstorm is very dangerous".

It honestly doesn't feel like a storm day up here today. Cloudy, breeze is cool from the SE and only 26.5C. I don't have time to check more in-depth but certainly not the type of conditions I was expecting to wake up to earlier this morning.

That storm approaching Kingaroy is seriously nasty. I've never seen Marburg maxed out on black, and with a large blob of it as well. GFS shows lots of shear and helicity out there with very cold mids and uppers. They could get anything from giant hail to tornadoes.

I'm pretty sure we have some posters from near Kingaroy. I hope they can share some obs after the fact, but for now I'd be worried for their safety.

Looks like a decent rain band coming across SEQ. All the severe stuff will be north and well inland today, but rain is most welcome. This event still keeps on giving.

Looks like yesterdays forecast might be coming to fruition locally.
