Just missed us at home, only 5mm of rain and doesnr look like there was any hail. Not a drop at work on the west side of town, but could still hear the roar of the hail. Just a few ks to the south east got smashed though. Equal to or slightly worse then the boxing day storm from all accounts, especially since it hit a more populated area.

Hi Lightning Gus - I see that Kingaroy Airport had a number of gusts up to 91 kph and thats still about 6 kms from Coolabunia where Ken's linked photos were taken.

Gympie cell now has a definite hook, although doppler is showing it has weaked slightly.

I really hope there are storm chasers out there or there are some good pictures/footage that emerges. These are extreme storms.

That Gympie cell has a massive V-notch now and there'll be hit by the northern end. Melrose looks like it will get the other cell. Despite that it looks like the storms have generally avoided a lot of populated areas so far.

I thought NE NSW or GC would have seen supercells like this yesterday.

these are dangerous storms indeed ... that gympie cell looks like the mother of all cells - it's shaped like a V atm ... some of the pictures and videos coming out are just astonishing!

The area to its south that went through Eumundi was strengthening and turning also. I'd imagine it's going to be a bit of a mess down there in places.

There is some serious hook shape to both of those storms now. Melrose and Gympie to take a direct hit

I can only find one web cam in Gympie and it is a traffic camera. Just a white out there at the moent although the traffic lights which you can just see are still working.
