Moisture could be an issue today but all we can do is wait and see.

Moisture definitely an issue. Potential for dangerous storms maybe if something can tap into moisture close to the coast. And the possibility that if something gets going it could be isolated and therefore not have to share energy with nearby cells.

Follow up looks to include a small ECL on GFS, but tends to take the rain out to sea and focus it on a small area on the coast.

Yup. Moisture (in an elevated form) is actually better inland and in the south compared to the coast which is common for setups like these so storms shouldn't have much trouble initiating in those areas.

If they can survive to the coast (helped by the strong steering winds) and the greater capping there, they could start ingesting the higher dewpoint air from the surface and/or interact with the seabreeze front and turn into numerous severe storms. If the drier lower levels near the coast prove a bit too much, expect the showers & storms to be more in the form of scattered popcorn convection rather than big juicy intense cells.

Still really not confident on SEQ activity during this afternoon, at least not until the southerly drags a rain band up tonight.

Not much happening out here, lots of disorganised clouds. 33C & a bit of a N breeze rustling the leaves.
Yesterday & day before had plenty of noise by now.

Nah the main focus of tomorrow's activity will shift further north and west with the much cooler change.

Band of storms now exploding over the Downs as I type and marching east.

And at my place in Sydney's Hills District it is currently 12.7 deg's and raining and windy, after torrential rain this morning. Such a difference!

That big band marching across the Downs is really motoring along and is now getting close to the western boundary of the SEC district - the rapid speed pretty much as expected with the strong steering winds.

Small cell building over Greenbank.

Thanks Ozone Doug, I was just hearing a few horror stories re Ham operators getting a good doze of waves. But I thought just the size of the golf ball may have held a bit but it disperses within a few nanoseconds like you said.

Thats a good looking line on 256k Stapy, with this heat atm its gona bomb coming off the range? Wind has turned more to the E now, feeding the moisture.
