Looks to be building in a few spots on the radar, who knows we might just see a few flashes in Dem Dar hills later on?

Really, it was. A few drops even fell into the gauge. I don't know whether you could call it a quarter mil or not, probably not. But it was real rain :)) :))

Oh my goodness, there's more... An hour later. Just faint sprinkles, bottom of a storm to the north this time. The first lot was the tip of a storm to the south. Both come across from the west.

Just had a loud crack to the north, lovely rumble, music to my ears.

Getting heavier as I type, frogs started croaking, they'll be happy.

Still lots of nice rumbles happening.

Edit: I could say, it's a fairly reasonable storm. smile

Two hours later, stars above and lightning on 3 sides.
Power went of just now, and came straight back on.

Such excitement... smile

Great storm last night. Not heaps of rain in it but loads of flash and bangs.
Things looking good for today with models all increasing rainfall over the next 48 hours. Looks likely Mareeba will get 10-20mm. Hopefully more if we get a direct hit by a good cell.

Look at Tewantin on the sunshine coast. Around 250mm over the last 4 days.

Nice little drop of 18mm from a sneaky storm that crept over the hills last night. Some nice lightning and a welcome bit of noise.

Speaking to some of the old cane farmers in the area and they have been saying it is as dry as they have seen in some time.

Anyway nice to not have to water this weekend.

Still only a few drops in the gauge, after both storms.

The meat ants are now building some mounds. Right where I stand to water my herb patch... I hope they don't overrun it like they've done with about 4 of my chilli pots.

Woke up at 3am, some nice lightning, thunder quite load at times and steady rain. About 15mm from all that!

I did a skydive yesterday at Mission Beach - it was incredible. First time, scary as hell but landed on the beach! How incredible - blue skies, blue water. Wow.

My question is, what temp was it at 15000ft? It was cold!!!!! I know there is a ratio where the temp falls one degree for every x hundred metres in altitude. How do I work out a rough temp of yesterday at Mission at 15000 feet.

If you haven't, you must! I am still buzzing!

G'Day weather watches,

Good to see the start of our storm season smile could see a few flashes off the coast this morning before daylight and made me look at the radar and log in here to see who got it.

Cells on the southern tablelands going off this arvo, can they push north again ?
Not holding my breath to get anything down here just yet but it would be bloody nice.

Cheers

Yes... they do prey on roaches. So do huntsman's..

Ain't no amount of geckos gonna impact insect poulations in FNQ smile Asian house geckos do, on the other hand, compete aggressively against native geckos for food and territory, so, kill em all I say!
