Missed the fog, but it would be highly unusual for the City to get fog due to it's location. The forecast says fine day; but there's a patch of ACCA's right across the Illawarra this morning.

Your area definitely got fog though, I've seen photos on fb from Port Kembla and Warrawong which I could also see from Mt Keira. Not sure about Wollongong itself but there was also a large sheet on the ocean stretching from about 5km out right to the horizon, up and down the coast.

Bright sunshine here now with light Westerlies. The fog has broken up in the last half hour or so. Over land it has been reduced to an 'Addams Family' cloud over Western Sydney, although it is persisting out to sea.

It would be great if the light Westerlies could continue but the sea breeze will be along soon. No storms today, but it does look like they'll be back tomorrow. Cool wet Summer weather can mean make a great storm seasons e.g. Nov-Jan 2011-12.

At Sydney OH, if it reaches 24.0 today, it will be the 'hottest' this month.

Heavy fog of that ilk (even heavier, really) is extremely common upon the tableland regions; at least a few times per week, usually with drizzle. Fog is merely low-lying cloud, and once above ~200 m AMSL, it gets all the more common.

Not very common down at sea-level, which I can plainly see laugh

Wasn’t much in the City according to my neighbours BUT there’s a thick sea fog rolling in now! That’s very unusual!

The sea fog is quite interesting since the Tasman is sitting in a positive anomaly at this point. I usually see sea fog rolling of cooler oceans.

Very solid fog here this morning haven't seen a fog as strong as this for a number of years. A very nice humid feeling to the air as well, the water from the recent rain is seeming to dry out already awaiting the next event which seems like a serious dam filler.
One of my most memorable fogs was actually in the Illawarra not too sure if it was the high country but in the dead of summer in 15 mins a fog rolled in which dropped visibility to 50m.

Maxxing out right now, and above the 30C max to 3pm.
Not that this is uncommon during the summer months, and today reminded me more of late summer with the heat and humidity.

Rain totals upped for the weekend for the metro. Up to 65 mm's.
Also the words "possibly severe" relating to thunderstorms for tomorrow.
I'll copy this into the thread that Floodhunter created for this event.

Very interesting. It also shows up in 'Layers' enhanced infrared, but looks a bit further South. The forecast doesn't have it moving South, however.

----

Cool and fairly cloudy here today, with sunny periods in the afternoon, maxing at about 20 across most of the metro area, with OH being the hotspot at 21. There's been no rain since yesterday evening.

The sea fog on Friday morning looked like a huge ice cap from the escarpment:

I thought it was delightful.
Nice and cool after the [censored] humidity of the past few days.
Summer is good for these days. It's Mother Natures air-conditioning switched on.

Yes, amazing photo WR.

The storms that have so far this month given many areas good rain, with some parts of Sydney getting nearly 300mm, were all to our north, south and east. As such we've not even managed half our normal October rain. The threat of drought therefore remains, and has increased over the past 2 weeks. Hopefully the surface low forecast this weekend brings some decent rain.

Absolute ripper of a day coming up, going for 33C and minimum is less than what it was supposed to be, so a 20C+ diurnal range is looking good!
Finally some genuine shoulder season weather, after a very cold first half of October.
