Pretty crazy how quick that new development of storms came up west of emerald... apparently its all going to push through to the coast overnight, would be good if it did!

Well they didn't. surprise surprise. grin

Some good falls inland though.

Some isolated places have done very well with rain over the past three days. But as we are for all intents and purposes in an El Nino lack of widespread rain features is par for the course.

Really not sure what this rain is doing today lol. Really hoped we would've got more than 10mm, some nice soaking rain. See how the afternoon pans out I guess

Since this is coming in from the coast I would say the Berserker ranges would be blocking it from getting to Rockhampton.

Plenty of thunder at the moment, but it is right along the coastline where there is plenty of water already, salty water though.

I’m happy we got a little bit this morning but it’s hard to watch the wall of heavy rainfall that’s been sitting stationary just 5 km north of Gladstone for the last 3 hours. And then more heavy stuff just to our south. Can’t win.

It's frustrating hey
Just had 0.8mm from that passing shower, which I then hear thunder from it as it heads north of us and develops further haha! Blue sky to the south now

We got lucky with 22ml today. All in a couple of hours. Just north of us would have gotten a lot more.

Good stuff bundybear, I would really like to know what has caused the 20km wide “river” of no rain between these two rain systems. Check the radar and you will know what I am talking about. It has looked the same for the last 8 hours. My uneducated guess would be dry air being funneled somewhat between the middle of all this convergence. Targinnie and around Mt Larcom(the peak not township) must have scored between 100-150mm today.

Gladstone power station. grin

I just put it down to an on shore flow. In the past you get under one of them and you can end up with big falls.

You see the remnants of another one on the radar just north or Mt Larcom, then there was another one earlier in the day around Yeppoon.

It is really weird how those dry spots appear. Left home today in the constant rain for the shop. No rain when I got there and not soaking wet. Usually runs the other way here. Shop is on a different side of the hill to us.

Son is in Rocky this week for a course, camped in his swag with a tarp to keep him dry if need be. He is hoping he hasn't taken the rain with him.

We ended up with 22mm Most of that fell yesterday morning.

Bizarre weather with it being so patchy. A few km away had 38mm.

Does not look like much joy for this region. Forecasts are still predicting all the rain events will be mostly south and or inland.

This must be four or five years now of erratic rainfall events.

Need a volcano or something to erupt to get the atmosphere out of this groove it is stuck in.
