Blame the lady from the BoM that made the press conference. The news is pretty much just quoting what she said about it being a once-in-a-century storm.

a couple people here would complain if BOM didnt put out a warning and a bunch of people died due to the weather. So of course they are going to bag BOM because the system didnt live up to their expectations

I agree.

It's hammering down here again and I think that was a rumble too.

The event is basically all over here and while it was not a fizzer as such, it fell well below expectations for this area.

But at least the Southern Highlands where it was needed much more got an absolute drenching.

Too true. Will be interesting to see what the impacts are on dam levels are. Looks like good inflow to Warragamba already from Coxs River, only a slight up-tick in levels on the upper Nepean dams... pretty early yet though.

Impressive fall at Penrith, 32mm to 9am and 89mm since. Starting to clear quickly with the last round hitting the eastern suburbs before it continues up to the lower Hunter.

And at 52mm, as they say, 'That is the ball game'.

The original forecast was for something between 90mm to 150mm, so somewhat under whelming here, near Liverpool.

As alby said earlier, a bit over 40mm here, really lovely to get. I was in Lithgow today and they had about 80i think. Blackheath etc over 100 I heard. Should be good inflows to warragamba.
Sorry for those who missed out. Happy for those who got decent precip. Nice reports from the usual enthusiasts. The usual good box brownie shots from Eddy 👍👍

Yes but with these rainfall forecasts. The lowest band of rainfall is of 50% probability and the highest band is of a 25% probability. So with these probabilities there will always be a mixed bag, with weather being so variable.

Anyways not too fazed, with me falling well below the forecast. Although a bit envious of other places that did much better than me, as I have received 52.3mm for this event. Bringing me above average for a 3rd month in a row (82.3mm this month).

Even though i live in a new area, extreme rain rates for long periods can flood the best managed places. So I don't mind soaking rains, as long as the dams get filled.

So the real question is why did the Low move ne instead of se? I assume it’s the strength of the southerly steer.

Meanwhile holy hell at the MCS over the Top End. Massive.

Tipped out 48mm for the event this arvo, lovely! The creeks are flowing and some of the farm dams have had a top up.

After cricket on Saturday I'm gonna throw the swag, dog and girls in the car and go for a quick camp and fish. Love this time of year, especially after a good rain event. Life is good smile

I've picked up 65.6 mm from that event.

Quite lovely, considering how bloody inland I am! laugh
