btw..tracking map didn't get the coastal hug

the 512 emerald radar shows the centre of TS owen on creal reef ( east of mackay) mslp from the obs is 996hpa
http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60801/IDQ60801.94371.shtml

ACCESS still has ts owen roughly in the same spot tomorrow with diameter widening but no intensification
Townsville and north of at 20-25s, will be on the southern flank tomorrow
windstreams and synoptic confrirm closed circular isobars. It is quite symmetrical currently for a transitioning low. Maybe because its so small

TS owen wil draw a monsoonal flow down its eastern flank tomorrow AND wednesay meaning that the southern flank for the coast will have an equatorial infeed. which on wind streams .

The ACCESS 7 day forecast l believe encompasses 2 models
, it changes over after 3 days on a Wednesday./Thursday/

I say this because on the Thursday owen vanishes off the forecast.
I find the changeover of models annoying especially when the earlier one does so well

Yep crikey, it displays ACCESS-R (the higher resolution regional version) out to 3 days then ACCESS-G (the lower resolution global version) beyond that.

Thanks Ken for that info..
Sat pic showing no significant convection for ex owenlow this morning
mslp is showing the weak low is still there and linked on a trough to another weak low in the coral sea
http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/synoptic_col.shtml

ACCESS a few days ago wanted to join these two lows and then develop them and then changed..
I will check out ACCESS's take on this a bit later this arvo
----------------------

marakai l did see a pic on an ABC link and report but l am so not trusting the media atm as to what an where they get there source
The best place l know is one of the specialist organisations like the NAVY hurricane watch centre who keep archives and pictures. A look through this thread should provide popular links
.

Thanks redwatch. Nice sat pic. Much better than National loop which is now showing that much better this arvo
ACCESS showing TS owen remaing in tact and NE back up the coast to Mackay and getting thumped / semi absorbed later in the week by that incoming qld surface trough.
Even so on Saturday you can still see TS owen as a local small embeded rotation on the trough line
Quite amazingly you can still see it popping out at the far NTh cape , sitting on top of a very northerly high ridging up the east coast on the 23rd DEC
We could still be watching this TS owen drifting up the coast off shore for the coming days if ACC is correct

I believe why TS owen is still in play is because there has been some on off sporadic coupling with NW monsoon trough infeed now and then. It has to survive this incoming surface trough as we approach the weekend..
Red Earth ..
Do you have a link to a better sat pic for the coral..
Some people may like to observe
regards

ACCESS currently suggesting we will stop seeing that rotating low by Christmas eve at the far tip of QLD. The high ridging continuing to pushes it north. No sign of monsoonal infeed up there for it by Christmas on current ACCESS 7 day forecast.
Definitely worth continuing a watch , cos it is interesting.
Today 19th dec
EX owen has a reasonable inflow from the equatorial infeed coming from the north and wrapping round its southern flank

Not sure if posted before already, but if not, here is a link to a series of articles from NASA from their monitoring efforts.

Hi guys, I have just had a ground station setup here at Andergrove and have been watching ex TC Owen overnight from Himawari 8. It really ballooned out. Of course you can also get images like this from the web, but this one is direct from Himawaricast on Jcsat2B. The early morning light makes it look 3D.

I have faith in ex TC Owen - have been logging his position since the 11th December faithfully like some old desperate diehard.
I have him about 550kms east of Mission Beach and he is moving north after being on the 18th 6.30am 300kms ENE of Mackay.

These detect either visible light or infrared at various wavelengths for temperature, water vapor etc.

It's a lot of fun and with so many options one can sit at the computer all day just playing with the images.
