Right now I'd be glad if the smoke went away. Hard to tell whether it's cloudy or not.
Nychum/Mount Mulligan is well alight, and so are the southern parts of Rookwood.
40.3 degrees and 21% humidity.

But, I am a nylex half full kinda guy... Haha, best way to be DU If it does happen, it's more than likely it will drift off SSE to the cyclone graveyard, never to be heard from again. All depends how strong it gets I think. If it stays weak it should head towards the coast

I don't care what it is, as long as a good amount of it makes it past the Featherbeds and drops water on us.

If it stays weak it should head towards the coast Yeah Simmo what we need is just a sloppy, troughy low pressure area to hang about and dump vast quantities of rain over FNQ for a few days.....but how often have we ever seen that in the first week of December..?... And DU if we don't get at least some rain this week I'm gunna feel like smashing that glass of yours and slitting my wrists and chewing on the pieces... .This is by far the worst late winter/build up season that I've experienced here..I also feel a bit for the older folk trying to deal with this heat and dryness that they probably have never felt before....it must be a nightmare for some...and ,hell, imagine being a roofer or a concreter...wouldn't that be fun ATM..! The weather in this place never ceases to amaze me...probably the worst place to try and forecast in the country.. Our main creek has nearly totally stopped flowing which has never happened in living memory...

Chillagoe Creek dried up again a couple months ago. It dried up 2 or 3 years ago for the first time in about 60 years, according to one local. It survived the 2017 Dry, and dry again for the second time.
When I moved here eight and a half years ago, the creek banks at the waterhole constantly seeped moisture and you walked through mud, even in the Dry. Now it's as dry as the rest of the land.

Never in my time here but this year has been an odd one. Good wet season ending with a big flood then a switch was flicked and we have had near record dry. Then record breaking heatwave, which is still happening. Now potentially and early drenching. Definitely the year for it. Latest EC. Just WOW! Unlikely but incredible that this is a run on the second day of December

Hope you haven't pencilled in the 178.5mm onto your rainfall charts yet Simmo….and 500mm+ along the coast...…...I'm highly dubious about those forecasts.. Is the Chilligoe Ck the only surface water near your town 28...? Has everyone got bores around there..?

Is anyone else having problems accessing the forum today, or is it just me. I don't even know if this post will work.

Think there's a spring out the main road a bit but don't know what that's like.

We had 470mm Dec 2010 and 400mm Dec 2015, be good to hit those numbers.
By geezuz it was hot on the reef yesterday, surface water by the sounder was around 28.6c before sunrise and peaked at around 30.3c in the early arvo on the way home. It felt cool compared to air temp. some white bommie tops not sure if they are still from the last event cause I han't been to this spot since before then.

At least it's not me. Kept timing out or giving me a bad message. Seems to be picking up a bit as I type this now. Hopefully it won't crash while watching Owen.

Just hit 41 degrees again. 36.7 degrees inside, not too bad considering. Am I just getting used to it?

By geezuz it was hot on the reef yesterday. Even hotter when you break down with no canopy or cover and have to wait hours for a tow from the VMR....and even worse than that, break down whilst trolling so not even over a decent fishing or snorkelling spot....yeah, yesterday was a real ripsnorter of a day on the water...

I learned a lesson in NW-WA many moons ago. We got a flat tyre on the highway, not far from the access road. Stuck without a jack, and none of the many people we knew going past stopped...!!! No water of course. We were only on our way to the shops 2 hours away after all. Not far. Why carry extra stuff. Someone did eventually stop. Ever since then I've never been anywhere without extra water, and clothing/hats for sun protection.
