When I looked at that map I thought you were making a joke, yet checking the radar it looks very wild and woolly between Atherton and Mareeba. Here's hoping Simmo gets some, will it make it as far north as you marakai?

The cell that passed over the Atherton area looked intense on the radar, reports of hail, trees & power lines down. Looks like it even may have produced a small tornado, there is a video of it on the ABC online FB page.
Some welcome rain out your way Simmo?

Our main creek has nearly totally stopped flowing which has never happened in living memory... Our smaller creek has stopped flowing and has completely dried up in a few sections, and that is the first time that has happened since we have been here.

I work in Walkamin, and last week the road through the area was closed to fire's and I had to go through a very long long detour. Today, that storm popped up at Tolga, skimmed past Walkamin (LGCC) and moved onto Mareeba. Near the Mareeba Aerostrip trees were down and debris everywhere. Huge rain too as I drove home. At work, could hear deep rolling thunder and the occassional *smack* lightning strikes! It was great to see!! I am so hoping Owen comes for a visit... he can dump his load all over us!!

There's a big cell coming up to the east of us. Blowing up all the dust here. Don't know whether it will wet us or not, at least, hopefully, it will cool down everything to the east of us and cool us down too.
Currently 35 degrees outside and 37 inside. Hasn't cooled down much. It was still 39 in and out at 6pm.

Did you get wet at home marakai? That storm to the east completely missed us, but is still putting on a good light show, no rumbles though. Sort of coolish breeze, but hasn't cooled things down much.

Only 2mm Coldy think the radar is over egging things a bit. Looks like you might get a couple mm out of the storm that just missed us. Still 32 degrees outside and 33 inside, phew. Guess that's a lot better than 42. :-/

Looks like simmo might get some next. Simmo would have had to have got some. I watched a fairly intense cell not long ago on the radar that ploughed straight over his joint.

ha ha ha ha ..... Now there's rain to the west of us, but still nowhere near us. I can still smell smoke, so the north end of the Featherbeds must still be burning, in spite of the storm that *looked* like it dumped on them.

Our main creek has nearly totally stopped flowing which has never happened in living memory... Our smaller creek has stopped flowing and has completely dried up in a few sections, and that is the first time that has happened since we have been here. We sure do need some torrential rain to get a bit of flow happening and flush all the leaves out...Very nice to see some moisture building along the coast and Tablelands...we might get lucky yet... Yeah Ron it was more disappointing than anything...sun had some bite but the sea sure was flat...sounds like you had a good day though..any fish biting..? 28, I always take plenty of water as well...usually have drinking water plus 50 or so litres of frozen waterbottles to keep the fish cool..I also need to replace the cover on my canopy so its sitting in the shed ATM...

That sounds a good place for it to be Scott...
Power just went out at 10.35pm. Don't think it will be back for a while.
Being overrun by tiny insects on my phone. Might call it quits for the night, and save battery.

Heaps of mackerel feeding on v small bait, but missed my share of larger ones. got a nice feed of trout, also missed a couple of large ones. I use ice blocks and pour in a bucket of fresh seawater. Cools fish much more efficiently and to below zero Small cell just scraped us, not sure if the ground is wet.
