At long bloody last. 10 days after leaving home we are back. Got home in time to pull the pipes that connect the gutters to the tanks before the rain.

Places we were told were being consumed by 12 metre walls of fire are untouched. Fire has burnt oddly. Goodness knows how our house stands except our small house dam seems to have directed the flames around our house instead of straight into it.

Looks like we might have had a chopper drop water. Things that really should have burnt didn't.

My fruit trees are either gone or pretty well buggered. I had my nectarine tree for about 20 years.

Firies have done a good job but the admin is being questioned heavily. I especially question why we were locked out so long when our area had already burnt and was safe.

Lovely storm tonight gave us 25ml which has given the roof and gutters a good wash and now we have a lovely drizzle

Thanks. My poor cattle dog who is use to being with me 24/7 couldn't move into our accommodation. I had to leave her with my son and his mates. Even though she had another dog she loves to play with to keep her company she was very unhappy to be separated from me. I did take her to the beach every day for a good run. Cattle dogs that are use to running around all day, herding chooks, watching pigs, drooling at roos just aren't happy in a backyard. grin

Interestingly enough bundybear, we are dog sitting tonight, neighbors dog, their house is unsafe after the massive piece of pine tree fell on it during todayís storms. House is in a bad way, branch hasnít finished falling and will likely cause more damage.

Well that's not good for them. Hope there isn't too much damage for them. If they need anything I can help with let me know.

Not sure why but now the chance of showers goes to Monday now for Yeppoon, as well as "cloudy"

Are we expected to see something from the ex cyclone?

Day time temps for Yeppoon around 23/24 in the weekend.

Yes. EC is modelling decent rain for Yeppoon.

Great to hear, bb.

I know he/she hasn't posted in a while but I hope Subtropical pulled through okay. He/she was from Baffle Creek iirc?

The neighbors seem to have everything under control, insurance is right into it, arborists were in today removing the branch, builder is in stabilizing and making the damaged area safe. No engineers have been through to assess yet though.

Ergon must be snowed under 28 hours without power, three minutes to fix a blown fuse when they arrived (I told them is was the fuse when I reported it).

Compared to everyone else in the district we got a wooden spoon with 37mm. Only a km away got 55mm. 90mm was quite common all the way up to 120mm.

Really hoping for more rain. A lot more. This will only last a week if there is no follow up.

A big change in the bureau with their forecasts. All of the models now have ex TC Owen approaching the coast and combining with an upper trough resulting in a very significant rain event. Where the bigger totals fall depends on exact movement of low. Something to watch.

Mysterious Brad. Glad the neighbours house is under control.

Mega, Subtropical would have been fine. On the other side of the river to us and the fire never jumped.

Now just awaiting the assessor to get here so we can move on with things.

Disappointingly models now seem to be indicating ex tropical cyclone Owen will not give us any rain.

Looks looks the extreme dry is set to continue.

Yea even longer term models are showing a return to the south east getting rain again, with nothing substantial along the central and northern coast.

Thatís one model. Iíd hardly be making authoritative statements about anything on one model.

To be honest Kino, it is one of the more optimistic models.
