You're just exceptionally lucky RC laugh

They can only forecast based on the information in front of them. They can't make it rain. Especially where you live.

Exactly right Coldfront, and the BOM in Queensland has shut down all their regional offices, except one I think.

I agree, it's [censored] . Sadly that's government for you. Gladstone radar should have gone Doppler long ago. But expectation is also an issue. I think Ken Kato summed it up well in the SEQ thread with that Plucka character.

Maybe he did or maybe he didn't.

Livingstone shire council just cancelled their carols on the beach citing severe storm risk. Now looking at the radar there are no storms within cooee (bay). You would very well imagine they would be briefed on the weather by BOM. Based in Brisbane.

What a disappointment. First we miss out on ex Owen giving us some rain and now looks like we will miss the rain from the upper trough to our south.

Cyclone tech bulletin indicates tropical storm ex owen is moving your way
tracking link
http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml
There is a warning out on the tech bulletin but nothing showing on the automated forecasts
ACCESS is suggesting from townsville to hervey bay will cop the southern flank of this low with at least heavy rain sunday / Monday
What is your forecast RC? Any warnings out that you have seen other than cyclone tech bulletin

88.5mm from that storm/rain event.

My forecast is it will rain when it feels like it and be dry all the other times. The latest GFS forecast has gone from steadfastly for a couple of days saying CQ will be lucky to get 25mm to widespread 50-75mm. I am aware cyclones are notoriously hard to predict as they meander where they damn well want, but what the hell are we supposed to believe.

The same again tomorrow except very widespread 75-100mm and I will be at peace with the world. It is that dry, our ground soaked up this 80mm and is asking for more.

66mm for me, SWW issued last night at midnight for coastal areas all the way down to Wide Bay Area. Today will be our best chance of rain that is if ex Owen doesnít come any further south than forecast. But going off what he has done so far I would say anythingís possible. Latest EC and GFS runs have him wandering around off the NQ coast for days as a low/weak tc.

How wonderful for you. Hope you get some more.

Not sure what we have had. We have had periods of constant drizzle, no big downpours but it is what we need at the moment. A downpour would only cause erosion with our total lack of grass cover now.

Well it looks pretty dismal, seems to be breaking up rather quickly as it pushes south. Donít know where this supposed 100-200mm falls were meant to come from today. Unless this trough is coming through later on. Still Iíve had 90mm since this started so Iím not complaining but being a weather nut you always want more. Lol

Samuel Hill (Byfield) is at 140mm since 9am, better than totals north to Bowen so far today.

Just because you havenít had the predicted 100mm doesnít mean others arenít getting it. Around your area people have had 140mm in 24 hours. And yes, it is breaking up because it degenerated from a cyclone. It now depends whatís happens as it enters warmer waters again, as well as direction. Even if it remains as it does, there will continue to be heavy falls as we have even seen in this thread.

It has not penetrated inland much. Today the heavy stuff was mostly very coastal with a little bit getting to the first set of ranges. Inland was quite sporadic. Certainly nothing widespread.

We have only had 10mm so far today since 9am.

Hubby is reporting 11ml for this event. I think I will cancel the milk sandwiches.
