It was cloudy here all day yesterday but still pretty warm considering the type of day it was. Got to 26°C.

Thursday looks like it will be quite a wet day with lots of instability now, and "the chance of a gusty thunderstorm in the afternoon".

Good pickup, looks like a stalling southerly May kick off something later today and through to the weekend. Hope so we still need 50mm to avoid our worst/lowest yearly rainfall on record (Albion Park needs only 30mm, Kiama doing much better). Interesting to note last year had only 1 more rain day then this year but had 170mm more (and last year was well below average as well).

Hopefully a big La Niña next year will sort that out.

west or Southwest shear is good for us Stormy. Those cells are collecting themselves nicely and are moving at a rate of knots. Should reach the coast. I dont think the onshore flow is enough to destroy them either its pretty sticky and 28. Fingers crossed

Yes I am watching them GringosRain, they make me excited.I dont mind the humid sticky days, as long as they bring a heavy storm,it would be great if we got a storm every day.

Just heard a roll of thunder. Wasn't expecting that. The radar doesn't show anything nearby, but there is a cell moving through Sydney's West and some rather ominous cells in the Tablelands, some with black cores.

EDIT: there's a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS covering the Central Tablelands and adjacent parts of the Hunter.

Nice electrical storm with very loud claps of thunder currently moving through here.

Edit - Heavy rain now too.

That is a really large cluster of thunderstorms throughout central eastern NSW at the moment. Quite a lot of black on the radar too.

I've heard a few rolls of thunder here in the last 20 minutes or so. Something must be trying to develop nearby, but with all that marine layer crap I can't see anything. There's no rain, just some very light drizzle from the low cloud.

I've heard those rumbles as well Steve. Just heard another one but it's really distant.
Checked the lightning tracker and there isn't much action there.
Can only go by the radar atm and I'm about to get some rain.

The Merriwa cell must have been very destructive if the BOM has altered the warning.
Quote:
DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE, POSSIBLY GIANT HAILSTONES.
A dangerous thunderstorm near Merriwa is moving east at about 40 km/h. This thunderstorm is likely to produce locally destructive winds, heavy rainfall and possibly giant hailstones.

Although I couldn't get up a doppler reading onto the storm. Hopefully everyone that way stays safe.
Seems like no storms for me today.

the good thing at least is the area that the storm is hitting is one of the current areas with the worst drought in NSW.
