Wow Eddy that is really nice photo. There's just something about it. smile

Yeah so am I, mainly because this will be a dry S/SW change so while we get nice and cool temps, we won't get penalized with too much scud and low cloud. smile

It's quite windy here this morning with a few rather noisy gusts. I thought the southerly may have come early, but it's nowhere to be seen on the obs so I assume it's a westerly.

Edit: It's getting windy now, possibly with gusts as high as 50km/h. The average wind speed would probably be no more than 15km/h tho.

How good would it be if we just didn't get the southerly and it was a westerly all day instead? smile

Hey Eddy - that looks like snow on the beach!! You could fool a few people with that. smile

Humidity!!! Guess what in a couple of weeks it's a whole new world for you my friend. Skin will dry out (it will recover) and your clothes will move freely around your body without clinging. Trust me it's good!!

One of my brothers and family moved from Tumbi Umbi (Central coast) to Canberra for work, they fell in love with it really quickly and although they have moved back to the coast, they really didn't want to move away from Canberra. He said the scariest thing was he started to sound like me re temps and humidity!! smile And that worried him. smile

SM - enjoy the camping!! smile

Some standing lee wave cloud is spoiling that little window of pre-southerly pleasantness this morning. Getting tired of this procession of clouds rolling over this week.

I hate the dry air. My skin goes dry and flaky and the car gives me a shock every time I open the door. Once the protective, comforting blanket of humidity disappears all that static, dry nuisance returns to torment me.

LOL Kizz - getting zapped out here today, I've been sooking about that!! smile

The drying skin sorts itself out after a couple of weeks.

100% sunshine out here, no clouds.

Mouse stickiness index is zero today!! smile

Those standing wave clouds are hugging the coast east of the ranges so everywhere else is enjoying the blue sky.

Yep - my trick is to slap the car hard so the force of the slap masks the electric shock. Every now and then I forget and then - zap!

My skin never recovers. My shins and calves flake all winter. I wear black socks to go with my suits for work. It looks really bad in the evening when I take them off. Skin flake city on those socks. Yuk.

Definitely a real autumnal feel today smile

The boundary between the SW and SE wind was very obvious on Wundermap at 1310 AEDT:

The Southerly is just arriving here now, with gusty SSW Winds and already noticably cooler. The visible Satellite picture shows an arc of cloud that traces out the change and there are cumulus clouds with the change.

Looks a lot cooler behind the change on the Illawarra.

P.S. Great map DB

Actually, my last post seems to have been premature. That seems to have been a pickup in the SW winds ahead of the change. Doppler radar looks interesting. It shows the 'boomerang' moving up the coast and now passing through Manly and Mosman.

The real change should be here any minute, and there are now patches of scud appearing.

And now, here's the change - from the S-SE.

I LOVE the dry air, absolutely love it. And this morning was just beautiful, once the mid level cloud cleared it was sunny and warm and the sky looked so nice and blue. Then the southerly came and it was nice. When I was playing cricket at school it was like a beautiful aircon. The southerly- Natures aircon, I tell ya!!! smile We got a scum fest with it, but there's still some sunny breaks every now and then.

Also kizz- At least that mid level cloud did create a really nice sunrise early this morning. You sydneysiders may have seen it if awake early enough. smile

Yeah, I prefer the dry heat, the humidity has been pretty constant this summer. Another dry day tomorrow (should nudge 30 on the coast after a cool morning), before the tropical warmth returns for the weekend. In a few more weeks 20C+ nights and high dewpoints should be the exception.

Glad you guys up there are having some reprieve from the Humid conditions. We've had quite a reminder that Autumn well and truly on the way today.

I love the dry weather down here for comfort reasons, but do like Humid climes also.
We have some Humid days during Spring and Summer but predominantly dry air all year round.
Also the evenings here are generally very comfortable through Summer. Thought I'd share some stats from my neck of the woods to give you an idea.

Wyndham Vale: Outer South-West suburbs of Melbourne.

December: Mean Max 25.8c Mean Min 12.5c
January: Mean Max 27.8c Mean Min 14.5c
February: Mean Max 28.7c Mean Min 15.9c

Was clear in Sydney at sunrise. I'm up before the sun at the moment. That cloud started to move over after 8am and stuck around until about 11am before it started to "dissolve".

DB- Yeah the humidity has been oppressive on many days this summer, probably owing to the higher than usual SST's. Today was a godsend, it was lovely and cool most the afternoon but yet still mostly sunny because of low humidity.

I got so much homework done because it's been nice and cool inside today. Yesterday I got almost no homework done because I can't concentrate when it's hot and humid... Looking forward to tomorrow's dry warmth to end the school/working week. smile

Kizz- Ah I did not realise that, the cloud must've been really slow moving. It cleared around 10am here.

Just finished 9 holes of golf, bloody tough in that near gale, and who said there will be no scud, full scud fest since 5pm.

Hi DaveM, that is one thing I would love to see , snow on the beach, I've seen hail and frost on a beach!!

No scud here, it's a very dry spring style change. Quite cool now too. Looking at a Canberra/Bathurst summer day tomorrow which will be nice.
