Time for me to say a farewell to the WZ Forum. I joined nearly 14 years ago, and have very much enjoyed being a part of this forum. Loved reading the forecasts, reports, research, observations and photos/videos (etc.) from everyone. A big thankyou from me to everybody, we've all helped contribute over the years to make this a special place with such a wealth of information.

~

If you're reading this after the forum has been made read-only, many of us in SEQLD/NENSW have moved over to the Weather section on the Ski forum.
There's already been over 350 posts in the first three weeks of our SEQLD/NENSW day-to-day thread despite the predominately fine and rather boring weather. On the new forum, there's now an ability to upload images directly onto the forum without the need to sign up to photohosting sites (which we couldn't do here on WZ Forum).
Forum homepage: https://www.ski.com.au/xf/
Our subforum: https://www.ski.com.au/xf/forums/eastern-marine.83/
Our ongoing day-to-day thread: https://www.ski.com.au/xf/threads/ne-nsw-se-qld-weather.85082/page-8

One final post from me, been an intersting day out here, thick cloud, almost calm most of the morning & now the sun warming up.
Feels like spring.
Thanks for everybodys contribution here, learnt a great deal.
Great to see lots familiar names at Ski weather.
Cheers

I have been a member of this forum for many years but have never posted as I am not really knowledgeable enough nor have the insights to contribute very much to the discussion.

I lived in North Queensland and now here in SE Qld and the wealth of information, experience and entertaining discussion shared on this site has been invaluable. My knowledge has grown in leaps and bounds as a result of the members of this forum who took the time to share their thoughts, knowledge and opinions.

As an avid fisherman and for many years subjected to the very best (or worst) that mother nature has to offer, I have no doubt that this forum contributed significantly to me making safe decisions for me, my family and my mates as well as keeping me keen to learn more. Thank you all. I hope you find a rewarding place to carry on the conversation. Take care and keep looking up!

Goodbye from me, like most I've headed over to Ski. I'm gutted to see this place go, I stumbled across it during the Toowoomba floods while trying to find out what the hell was happening, and in any significant event since then it's been a priceless source of real on the ground information, without the hysteria and BS that you tend to see on facebook pages.

I'll really miss this place, but hopefully we can create a similar community at ski. Thanks to everyone.

Beautiful Sunday morning here, where the heck is everyone??

I brought food,picnic blanket.......
Hello?

Echo .......echo........echo
HHHmm

Far out , where are they now?

Must be a cyclone coming ....nope nothing in that thread.

Some kind of fast breaking disaster in NSW?? .. nope, doesn't look like anyone's been there since last night.

Earthquake? ....Nope The duck left a tailfeather there but that's all

Ohhhh of course!! A huge climate change brawl.......nope, busted mouthguard on the floor, boxing gloves hanging on the door handle.

Blizzard in the Alpine area?.... no sign of life there for weeks, avalanche maybe????

Geez, maybe those Zombie movies are real, cos this land's kinda deserted. Weatherzone Zombie apocalypse?
(Editorial here - please note the usual 'enter a forum without reading back to see what is going on' style - just for old time's sake)

Oh well ...
- fold up the picnic gear and put it back in the Tardis
- pick up a stray Texta, that Kenny always drops his Textas, might take it in case I meet up with him on the highway somewhere
- Take a picture of some of Gleno's masterpiece's
- Photocopy the wise words of Colin, RWM, Mega
- roll up the maps that Crikey left on the wall
- get a USB to download the words of wisdom from SeaBreeze
- oh, take that photo Lani showed me
- oh darn, grab that local info Lightning Gus gave me & put it in my keepsake box
- oh & the GPS tracker trying to keep up with where Joesk is now
- can't forget the wise words of Ozone Doug *filed in keepsake box*
- seriously? another tree picture Kenny? smirk
- oh, Redbucket's posts from 'home in the Lockyer *shoves in pocket*
- DNO's info from down the road *grabs* might come in handy

Look at that pile of 'wrongly called Fizzers' in the corner, might put a match to those.
I'll feed the pile of mini tornados into the shredder, add the 'get rid of percentages because I don't understand' posts for good measure, mix in the 'didn't wet my patch of Earth so it didn't happen' posts : wow, great compost there!
*looks at big red door* - I am not even going to open that one to see the roomful of "BoM got it wrong/BoM should be sacked/Bom are living in the dark ages/Mt Stapy's a dud" posts, the smell from out here is bad enough! It'll eventually mutate & rejuvenate itself elsewhere I'm sure.

Hmm, *looks around* .....*twiddles with the texta* .... well I gotta say, having been through countless forum closures in my time, it's so nice to see one that didn't devolve into a nasty name calling free-for-all on the last day. Shows the character of the people, we're all different but we've learned to scroll on past when we disagree (for the most part, wink )
The general acceptance that while many of us haven't got a clue how to read a soundings chart, we can still be valuable participants in observing what's going on outside, what has happened in the past & what might happen in the immediate future is a credit to the character of each & every WZ forumer.
*steps of podium*
I know I've forgotten to grab something, oh well - can't take everything with us can we?

And now, I'll just leave a note here
**Last one out, put the cat out please & turn the lights off **

*jumps in Tardis, off to new lands - may be time to regenerate, like the Dr does*

LOL classic Kazz.

Hope to see you all on the ski, AWF, etc forums.

BTW does anyone know if someone ended up finding a place to archive all the posts? (in addition to WayBack).
