Had about 15mm since 2pm. Have had distant thunder for awhile getting closer now. Heavy rain north of me for hours.
The rain really doesnít want to set in to the sydney basin.

Radar looks more remarkable than what has been experienced here. Second system in a matter of weeks that has looked better on radar than in reality.

Ground is hardly wet.

Once upon a time you could get an onshore shower that appeared as blue and delivered moderate to heavy rain. Not this winter.

Rain slowly starting to set up over the basin. I feel like the Central Coast copped it first because of the positioning of the high and etc. Hopefully a decent amount by tomorrowing morning. EC has most of the rain falling tomorrow.

There's a massive red blob moving over warragamba dam, should be a nice top up for sure.

Some big totals have built up this evening, with 50+ mm in the Terrigal area and also in the Jervis Bay area. Top fall looks to be 89 mm at Jervis Bay Airfield (not in NSW but in the Jervis Bay Territory).

There's light steady rain here. Totals in Sydney are slowly building up, about 5 mm at Sydney OH in the last hour. No big deal, would expect more from a big orange blob, the Terry Hills radar is over-reading again. Even so, we might see some decent totals by morning.

Good to see the rain penetrating inland this time.

Finished up with 15mm here @ Wollongong - which is bang in the middle of the 10-20mm forecast, which was a pleasant surprise given the lack of activity most of the day yesterday.

So far June is almost spot on average rainfall wise with 114mm in the tipping bucket (cf 129mm) and with some showers still on the forecast we may just hit the magic 'average' number. Still 170mm deficit for the year but heaps better than last year (almost double to be exact). Still plenty of catch-up rain needed though, especially now the catchments are in a better position for some run-off and the evap rate is very low.

Temp wise, we are 0.1c below average now for both mins and maxs after this cold outbreak. Looking at the forecast we may finish June right on average or even below.

Some good solid rain falling here in the Lower Hunter now.
Only 1mm recorded at Maitland Airport since 9am, but you cannot take any notice of that.
Looks like it is set in for the day now.

Light rain here now, with radar showing stream showers developing, possibly even a thundery one straws crossed! Hopefully another 10 - 20mm would be perfect for some dam inflows.

Probably the same shower as that at my place around 11:30. Short and sharp, very heavy.

Apart from that, this morning's been fairly cloudy with occasional light showers and sunny breaks. The showers seem to be shifting Northwards.

A few 'event' totals to date (12:00 Mon):

Newcastle 59 mm
Norah Head 50
Sydney 36
Bellambi 16
Point Perp. 89

As usual, quickly dropping off inland, with Bankstown on 7 and Penrith on 12.

All together total since rain started here in Ellalong is 5-1/2 mms,so not going very far inland.it has layed the dust,I suppose.
