Yeah SF, ours went off briefly a few times with the storms about....seems like you are getting a good introduction to our dodgy local power supply...

It got absolutely stinking hot here today, it was awful. Couldnt bear to do more than sit and watch movies with the fan on full blast.
I'd much prefer the rain thankyou very much!

I'm glad someone else is getting all the rain for a change smile We usually get much more than anywhere else. "Only" 75mm here in the past 24 hrs and 795mm for the MTD.

Don't speak too soon...it seems too good to be true....despite this weekend almost being "beach weather" down here (apart from all the box jellies washing up), going by the models and forecasts the main event is yet to come for us around Tully...while-ever this trough is hanging around I wouldn't be too surprised to see some Daintree like totals anywhere between Ingham and Cairns this week...

Its been enjoyable working in the light rain and cooler weather we have been getting but I'm going on strike and watching Netflix and playing bad guitar if we start getting flood rain... grin

Hoping so Scott, looking good for more heavies along the FNQTC. Was surprised to see Tully to Babinda areas not really getting much kick from the event, we know that wont be the case for much longer.

A nice line of heavy rain coming down along the ranges😁

I don't know whether it's trying to rain, or whether the splattering noise is kamikaze insects.
Suspect it's kamikaze insects, and I left the doors & windows open for too long.

Flying ants were out of control here tonight. At work I had to dim the interior lights and put the lights outside on full to try and keep the numbers to a minimum coming in and assaulting the diners while they were trying to eat.

The humidity was pretty oppressive today. Broke the previous highest DP record with 27.4c

Just starting to rain

This morning's North Tropical Coast and Tablelands Forecast:

Weather Situation

The monsoon trough extends from the southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast across to the east tropical coast near Cardwell. The trough is expected to continue shifting slowly southwards today and should remain slow moving over the base of the tropics on Wednesday. Rain areas and thunderstorms with locally heavy falls will continue over northern districts due to this feature and should also spread further into parts of central western and northwestern Queensland during today and tomorrow. The monsoon trough should then start to shift slowly north from Thursday, combining with a renewed burst in the monsoonal flow wrapping into the trough to result in heavier rain and storms again moving back to the northern tropics. Given the renewed burst in the monsoonal wind flow there is an increased risk of a low deepening on the trough in the Gulf of Carpentaria or the Coral Sea from late this week and the situation will be monitored carefully. A ridge of high pressure will maintain mostly fine conditions over the southeastern corner of the state, with just some showers expected east of the Great Dividing Range. Isolated thunderstorms will remain possible near a slow moving surface trough over southwestern Queensland over the next few days.

10mm out here this morning. That blob to the north looks juicy. Just did a quick rush around to feed all the animals before more rain sets in.

Looks like it is going to be a very wet week with no end in sight for the forecast period. Tinaroo nearly at 93%, wont be long till she spills.

44mm to 7am this morning.

Took nearly 40 mins to drive into the city from Bentley P today, slow due to rain and school traffic back on the roads after the Christmas break.

The talk around the office today is all about the weekends weather and rain, no mention of Australia day haha

Loving that forecast Ron, lets hope it comes to fruition.

16.2mm to 9am and still raining.

Thinking back to when I went through Biboohra's records to find years that had the same lack of rainfall we experienced last year from April-November. There were only 2 years that were similar since 1942 and both were followed with great wet seasons.
Going through those records trying to find something to be optimistic about considering the doom and gloom of BoM's long range forecast
Hard to think now that I was spending so much time pumping water and trying to keep a few small area's green for the goats and Frieda. Was seriously considering selling Frieda, the cow.
I feel very lucky considering vast areas of the state and country are still struggling.

Noticed that too RF! Did anyone else? Was really putrid about 6am but seemed to clear quickly?

Great rainfall and more to come.

My backyard has that swampy, creek smell. Totally waterlogged.
In the house, things feel damp to touch.- kitchen bench tops etc,- despite having all doors and windows open, and all the ceiling fans on.
