Hello Folks:
Here's previous weeks' weather in Mena, Arkansas:

DATE.......HIGH........LOW........RAIN

.......24..86F/30C....68F/20C....---
.......25..84F/28.8C..67F/19.4C..---

This past week featured warm conditions with a fairly wet early-week. Pacific cold fronts passed through on the 19th & 21st. The thundershower line on the 21st took ages to get here & was slow-moving (but somewhat thinner line as it reached my area). I copped around .50" from that line and around .15" from a thinner secondary line which passed a few hours afterwards.
Temperatures rose briefly until the morning hours of the 21st when the cold front passed (Overall High-12:01AM & Overall Low-around 10:10PM-listed; the morning low was a balmy 71F/21.6C & the Daytime High was 74F/23.3C around 9:30AM). Most Thankfully, any severe weather missed my area.
The last half of the week featured abundant sunshine with somewhat humid afternoons.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for continued warm conditions with he best shower chances for around midweek & later in the weekend. Today--Monday--is the Memorial Day holiday in the US--marking the traditional start of the Summer/Vacation season. Schoolkids in my area ended their schoolyear on the 23rd (a new school year will resume in late-August).

Hello Folks:
Currently 5:48PM Tuesday here.
WoW!!! Currently & ongoing historic flooding along the Arkansas River:

Late Monday afternoon, the Arkansas River at Van Buren (Crawford County; the twin town of Fort Smith--Sebastian County--is just across the river) was at 39.86FT/12.1M--breaking the old mark there of 38.1FT/11.6M, set in 1945. Major Flood Stage there is at 31FT/9.4M & the river is expected to crest there around 1PM Wednesday at 42.5FT/12.9M...At Dardanelle (Yell County) & Morrilton (Conway County), Major Flood Stage was reached early Monday, with the river expected to rise a further 3-4FT (expected to crest at Dardanelle at 45.5FT/13.8M, breaking the record set in 1943; expected to crest at Morrilton at 43FT/13.1M, breaking the record level set in 1927)...The river is expected to reach Major Flood Level--28FT/8.5M--in Little Rock (Pulaski County), on Friday...More possibly heavy rain to fall over Arkansas in the next couple of days...

My Thoughts & Prayers Continue To Be With Those Adversely Impacted By The Storms, Tornadoes & Flooding! May GOD Help Them!

Flooding on the Arkansas River in Tulsa, Oklahoma: Above Tulsa, the Keystone Dam--on the 27th--was releasing 275,000 CU FT Water Per Second (CFS), by contrast, Niagara Falls naturally releases 100,000 CU FT Water Per Second (CFS)!

Hello Kino & All:

Well, the historic flooding along the Arkansas River is continuing & ongoing. River levels in Arkansas towns as of Friday:
Ft. Smith: 40.47FT/12.3M=18.47FT/5.6m above flood stage
Dardanelle: 45.40FT/13.8M=13.40FT/4.0M above flood stage
Morrilton: 42.84FT/13.0M=12.84FT/3.9M above flood stage
Little Rock: 27.11FT/8.2M=4.11M/1.2M above flood stage

A number of the larger lakes in Arkansas are well above normal (elev. in feet ASL of normal pool level). Some of the higher levels as of Friday:
Bull Shoals Lake: 683.93FT/208.5M=29.93FT/9.1M above normal
Lake Norfork: 571.88FT/174.3M=19.88FT/6.0M above normal
Blue Mountain Lake: 407.58FT/124.2M=22.58FT/6.8M above normal
Lake Nimrod: 368.34FT/112.2M=26.34FT/8.0M above normal

I'm surely glad to not live downriver from any of these lakes, as they are letting massive amounts of water go from their dams/spillways.
My thoughts & prayers are with all who have been impacted by the Terrible Storms & Flooding!

@Kino: Many Thanks for that Very Interesting link. Yes, very hard to see such flooding devastation and damage.

This past week featured warm & humid conditions the first-half; a nice rain-dump (courtesy of a Pacific cold front) mid-week and coolish mornings with less humidity late-week.
Most Thankfully, any severe weather missed my area on the 29th; the rain fell heavy at times, but not enough to cause a great deal of flash flooding in my area.
Overall Low-abt. 11:40PM-listed for the 29th (the Morning Low was a balmy 70F/21.1C).
Forecast for the upcoming week calls for warm conditions, with showers in the forecast for much of the week--a Canadian cold front gave thundershowers today (Monday) and we may get showers (depending on the track) from a Tropical Disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico, later in the week.

This past week featured warm & muggy conditions, plenty of rain and a little excitement.
A Canadian cold front passed through on the 3rd, this front then became Stationary and was the trigger for more shower activity, along with an Upper-Level Low pressure late-week. Heat Indexes on some of the days topped 90F/32.2C.
Now for the excitement: On the 6th, a circular-shaped area of thundershowers (non-Severe Warned) approached my area. There was thunder/lightning beforehand, so I unplugged my computer. At 3:52PM, the Tornado Sirens sounded in town: I turned the TV on to the Weather Channel and also turned on my scanner. Turns out, there was a funnel cloud sighted over the NE part of town--in the Mena Medical Center, Lake Mena, Tapley Park-area. Later, I saw a short video & picture stills of this funnel cloud. Most Thankfully (Praise GOD), this funnel cloud was fairly short-lived, did not touch the ground (though got fairly low) or cause any damage. (Polk County--the NE part--was in a Tornado Warning until 4:30PM). Most Thankfully, we really don't hear the Tornado Sirens in town that often.
Forecast for the upcoming week calls for further warm & muggy conditions and fairly dry.

Hello Folks:
Here's the short vid (by Kayla McCraven) of the funnel cloud over Mena on the 6th. You're looking SE, from the KCS RR crossing on Janssen Avenue; the west side of the Wal-Mart Supercenter is in foreground.

This last full week of Spring featured a dry week--my 1st totally rainless week of 2019--warm afternoons & somewhat coolish mornings.
A--dry in my area--Canadian cold front passed through late PM on the 10th. This frontal passage lowered the humidity levels for a few days afterward. Otherwise, a fairly unremarkable late-Spring week.
Forecast for the upcoming week calls for warm & muggy conditions and a fair chance for thundershowers almost each day.

The 15th was the 183rd Anniversary of Arkansas' statehood.

Hello Folks:

Well, severe thunderstorms rolled through Polk County late evening on the 19th.
In fact, hailstones up to 5" size fell on the S Polk County town of Vandervoort (this small town is around 20 miles/32 kilometers S of Mena). Pictures show a rather large and spiky hailstone. This actually ties the record for the largest hailstones in Arkansas:
Similar-sized hailstones fell in Arkansas on January 21, 1999 & April 2, 2006. (The NWS at Little Rock has kept hail records since the 1950s).
Most Thankfully, Mena caught the N edge of this severe-warned cell & we experienced pea-sized hail (& heavy rains) for a time.

This past week featured plenty of warm, humid & muggy conditions with a good total rain amount. A Stationary Front near my area (and associated boundaries) was the focus for thundershowers throughout the week.
Actually rained twice here on the 19th: Had .25"/6.3mm rain in early AM showers--shortly afterwards the skies mostly cleared and we had mostly sunny, warm & humid conditions. Around 6PM, an area of severe warned cells passed just to our south. A bit later, skies grew darker & shortly before the Wednesday Night church service ended (~7:50PM), heavy rain started to fall. While driving the 5 minutes to my house, the rain fell heavily, Southerly winds were gusty, water was in the streets in a few places & pea-sized hail fell. We actually caught the Northern edge of the cell that deposited the very large (5") hail in areas of Polk County, around 20miles/32kilometers S of Mena. I copped a further .80"/20.3mm rain from that cell in a fairly short time.
Summer officially arrived here in the NH on the 21st; but conditions have been warm & muggy, with Heat Indexes around 100F/37.7C for a while before.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for continued warm & muggy conditions with chances for thundershowers throughout the week.

This first full week of Summer featured plenty of warmth, humidity & rainfall. The early-week rainfall was caused by a close Stationary Front, triggering the rich Gulf of Mexico moisture layer over my part of the US--a few heavy thundershower bands came through during the day and the rain fell somewhat heavily at times (the raintotal for the 23rd represents 93.3% of our average rainfall for the whole month)! Late AM thundershowers on the 29th were due to an Upper-Level Disturbance passing through my area (disturbance was moving in the odd direction from East to West); shortly after the rain stopped, skies cleared and the conditions became warm & very muggy. Heat Indexes on most of the afternoons flirted with the 100F/37.7C-mark.
Forecast for upcoming week call for continued warm & muggy conditions with chances for Scattered/Isolated Thundershowers on most all the days.

Hello Wet Snow. It looks like you had a cooler than average month, fairly uncommon these days in Australia. It was also looks to have been quite a wet and stormy month. In Sydney, it was a mild and wet June (early Winter) with the wet pattern continuing into July. Unfortunately the rain's been mostly restricted to the coast.

I have enjoyed your interesting and informative posts and it is sad to see Weatherzone closing down. I see that you have been posting here for most of this century, since 2002.

The World Weather Forum might be a good place to continue the Mena thread. That forum seems to be based in the USA but it has posters from around the world. A number of former Weatherzoners have signed up: http://cdweather.boards.net

There are other forums, including ski.com.au which is not just about skiing. It is very accomodating to ex-Weatherzoners.

See this thread for a discussion of alternative forums: http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthreads.php/topics/1501620/1

Hello Steve777 & All:
Here's previous weeks' weather in Mena, Arkansas:

DATE........HIGH........LOW........RAIN
June..30..86F/30.0C..64F/17.7C..---
July.....1..86F/30.0C..67F/19.4C..TRACE
.........2..85F/29.4C..66F/18.8C..0.60"/15.2mm
.........3..87F/30.5C..68F/20.0C..---
.........4..84F/28.8C..70F/21.1C..0.05"/1.2mm
.........5..88F/31.1C..71F/21.6C..---
.........6..88F/31.1C..69F/20.5C..0.40"/10.1mm

This past week featured plenty of heat, humidity & good shower activity. Rain totals were courtesy of heating-type showers in the warm & humid airmass over my area. There were other shower cells close-by during the week as well.
Actually rained twice here on the 6th: Had .15"/3.8mm in a shower that hit us around 3PM & a further .25"/6.3mm in another heating shower that hit us around 7PM. Such showers develop & have no real steering winds & are liable to move in any direction--I've even seen them move from NE to SW--quite an unusual direction for my area. Such showers are the kind that can produce a tropical downpour in an area while a short distance away gets little or nothing.
Heat Indexes during the week were near the 100F/37.7C-mark.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for continued hot & muggy conditions with the best shower chances for midweek & later in the weekend. July 4th was the Independence Day holiday here in the US. The town of Mena fireworks display for Saturday night was canceled due to the damp conditions.

@Steve777: Many Thanks For Your Kind Words, Interest & Support (The Same Goes To All Who Have Read My Posts & Those Who Have Given Their Input & Questions). It has really been a Dream Come True for me to share the weather in my area with fellow "weather nuts" & sharing it with Aussie/NZ "weather nuts" makes it even better!

Kind Wishes--Take Care--GOD Bless~~~Wet Snow

Yes Wet Snow. There is a sub-forum on ski.com that has a world section.
It would be great to see your posts continue there and it would have a bigger audience here in Oz.
