40.3c 3.50pm at Cool SW breeze moves in about 6pm very gusty wind then at 9.25pm 19c.

Looks like next few days will be very hot Northern of Ranges and cool breeze weaken by Monday to warm stable nights.

Very surprised we didn't have much Gusty NW hot winds and looks like drought surface brown and cracking.

I am sick of trough starts firing thunderstorms good rains in NSW and Leave Victoria bone dry.

Need trough sits west Victoria to Queensland bring humid thundery.

Breazy day of 22 here in Portland, thats now 10 of that last 13 days in that 29.5-22.5 bracket.

Mildura now looking at 42 Monday, 46 Tuesday, 46 Wednesday, 41 Thursday, 41 Friday. Anyone know of a previous double 46? Even during the Black Saturday heatwave the didn't do that. It will also be there 2nd and 3rd 46 this month, another record I can't see.

The amount of heat inland at the moment is massive.

Yeah itís pretty impressive double 46c days!!
Most of vic slides into severe heatwave conditions
From tomorrow through Thursday.
Even for my area weíre looking at 3 day straight
Of 38-39c which is pretty rare for southern vic!

And after we cop this next heatwave, thereís still
No good rains with the change Thursday/Friday
With no real totals showing more than 5mm!
Then it looks to heat up quickly once again

Really hating this really hot weather. With 4 days of 40+ here I'll be struggling to keep my garden plants alive - giving up on my lawn.

I've really never liked Summer, I like it even less when it gets to these temps. I hope our power supply manages to be maintained trying to keep business running and everyone's AC's on. Love Winter, enjoy Spring and Autumn and tolerate summer. Although I don't think I'd enjoy the winter that they seem to be having in a few places in the norther hemisphere.

No signs of decent storms either - I'll take Summer if we get some decent summer storms - strike out so far. Yeah ok I'm winging.

What is stopping Melbourne temperatures from getting to 40 next three days? Is it sea breezes?

The only instance of a double 46 at the Mildura Airport site I can see is 46.3 and 46.0 in Feb 2017.

There was a triple 46+ run of days at the Mildura PO site in Jan 1939.

Summer 1892 and and 1905/6 had three triple runs of 46+ but some of those daily readings are too high to look real.

25.7 for a high today after a low of 10.7, very windy last night and this morning but just breezy atm and 22.5.

Interesting to see differences between UKmet and EC, Ukmet has some rain showers, storms around from Wednesday, EC has pathetic attempt Thursday and a bit better Friday but in model world that may as well be next year.

With people returning from holidays this week, the Victorian electrical system loading looks set to touch 8,500 MW this afternoon, wholesale prices at this stage look to rise from $92 (the average so far this year) to $10,500 for nearly 2 hours (low wind generation in Vic/SA and a Loy Yang A generating unit offline).

That will be Victoria's highest load for 2018/19.

At this stage, the load demand is set to exceed 9,000 MW tomorrow. We better hope that it is a windier day!

But then we don't really want it to be too windy - especially if fires break out.

37.6 for a high today after a low of 13.9, currently 25.1 with a DP of 16. Windy evening but dropping back now for what will be a pretty steamy evening for us.

Still looking encouraging on Ukmet from Wed till Friday
