These surfers were very lucky. There is no way I would be in the surf in a storm!!

A few years ago we had a similar situation - the Kurnell Tornado. The mods set up a new thread for it since there was no existing 'event' thread and moved relevant posts across across from the day to day thread. It would be great if they could find the time to do this (of course they are volunteers so may be unable to).

----

Anyway, here are three successive frames in a short iPhone video I took in the Artarmon industrial area of what appears to be a nearby CG strike. They are shown in sequence, maybe they are about 0.1 seconds apart. There's a sudden very bright explosion of light, then the explosion subsiding and finally a faint image of the lightning bolt (the heated air in the path of the bolt).

People dont seem to see a severe storm coming and take shelter, they put them selves in danger, to late once it hits,if there is storms around I will wait till they have passed before driving anywhere, nothing worst in driving in heavy rain,or getting a tree limb fall on your car, if I can get out of it I will.

My place according to radar got hit with yellow/orange from that cell heading towards the CBD. Wonder if there was any thunder in it?

Ok, I've finally finished moving over the posts from the Day-to-day thread (217 posts in total moved), with pretty much all of them having to be moved one at a time, lol. It took longer than I thought. I might have got it done last night had there not been some stormy distractions here yesterday evening.

Thank you, much appreciated.

---

There are some chunky-looking showers marching Northwards out to sea, with glimpses of interesting cloudscapes through gaps in the overcast. Just annoying light showers here (Macquarie Park).
