A strong ridge of high pressure will develop over Victoria late this week and under current model predictions remain with us until at least Jan 18th.

Could lead to 7 days of 40+ temps in the North. Temps in the south less certain.

Min 8.6 Max 30.9 and low DP's a feature today. Currently 25.1 with DP up to 7.7 as Melbournes seabreeze has wafted up here though its very weak and near calm.

Tomorrow afternoon and into Sunday morning actually expecting a local wind event from SE or SSE. Should be pretty full on locally.

Real hot days for Melbourne and coast Monday and Tuesday

Bit of a stronger change Thursday/Friday with maybe 5-10mm for many but looking like heat won't be far away again.

Really, really dry out here in the west now, about 5mm since the mid December rain event here in Portland, many inland areas haven't recorded anything since.

Hi all,
Yes very warm here in Albury,NSW. Looking at temps around the 40 mark or above for each of the next 7 or 8 days. My forecast software has a prediction of near 47 for wednesday!! Stay cool and hydrated if you are in a heated zone.

Somehow got to 36.5C here as the wind gradually veered from NW'ly to now near due south.

Hotter than the 32C BOM predicted, maybe the swing to the south was a bit delayed.

Will be able to open up the house over coming hours to prepare for the hotter days looming Mon-Wed next week?

Drove (again!) to and from Geelong past couple of days. The area between west of Bairnsdale and east of Traralgon (and north and south of there - which would include Petros' and Samboz's areas) is really showing the effects of the mid-late 2018 drought. Conditions have re-intensified after some earlier scraps of decent rain.

Large areas are on the verge of (or maybe there) of being 100s hectares of dust - other areas have little if any grass left and what is left is just a cm or two high.

Between us we have covered Barinsdale to Portland and I can say it is very dry the whole way from Geelong to Portland, especially from Geelong to Colac was areas of rased dust even with only light winds.

Tb/logansi- Iíd extend that cured area of grass
Back through the Latrobe Valley to aroundthe
Moe area and out north of there around the Tanjil
South/hill end areas itís very dry!
The strezleckis back west of me and down on
The flats through Traf/tarragon/Warragul arenít
That far away either, with the grass going off
At a rapid rate now. Iíd say all that area will be
Cured by mid next week

yeah I wouldn't be surprised if more than 80% of the Grassland curing map is at 100% cured by mid next week. I think this warm week will finish off any moisture we got over the past few weeks. This driest I have seen victoria since I became a vol.

Yeah its as dry as I've seen it since 2014 for Mid January. Bush is now just waiting for a big spike day - we are lucky we haven't had much wind but we are bound to have such a day before the season ends so we desperately need a rain event.

Yeah agree with u logansi/dawman.

I reckon weíre about 3-4 weeks ahead in terms
Of how dry it is around my area! Usually itís early
Feb when things are pretty well cured around
Here.
But yeah just means a longer period of potential
Bad fire days.
Canít really see any worth while rainfall in the
Next week or so, accessg hinting at maybe 5-10mm
Thursday/Friday next week?? But thatís clutching
At straws this far out.
5mm here so far for January
