They started releasing water about 12-14 days ago. It was around the time GFS started modelling all this rain in its extended forecast and the other models did not go out that far.

Itís on its way up now

Finally! It's actually been raining lightly, instead of occasional light sprinkles.

4mm so far.

Council's cam shows Ryan Weare Park at Freshwater is just starting to go under.
A bit further towards Redlynch has water coming over the road too.

That is quite the forecast. Be a hell of a time if that comes off. Looks like it should fill Tinaroo despite the release program. Could some substantial flooding in the Cairns region, maybe through the Ingham/Herbert too with so much rain in the headwaters on the southern tablelands.

How strange, someone, (can't remember who but they're not in this thread area anymore!) said the bom NEVER forecast 100%

If you notice the 100% forecast for Friday, (today), it was issued at 4:36pm, so after the event, so to speak.
Do it after it happens, and you can't be wrong. grin

I have been thinking the Barron bridge river height meter is not working correctly for a while. I went over the bridge at 11am then again at 3pm, by 3pm it had risen ~1m. Just went over it again at 10pm and it is lapping the bottom of the bridge. The river height data has barely changed.

Don't those alerts send data back automatically via a 3G cellular setup?

Surely they do it on an hourly basis, at least.

EDIT.
Quote:
Stations marked with * are Telephone Telemetry Devices and are nominally polled once a day and more often during floods.

Stations marked with # are ALERT Radio Telemetry and report every 3 hours and more often when the water level changes.

Hickory The last update on that image was 10pm which you can roughly tell by lining up the dot with the x axis of the graph. You can always look at the data as a table to get a precise time of the last reading.

http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDQ65394/IDQ65394.031188.tbl.shtml

This is what it should roughly look like.

The low has shifted far more inland (more east) than expected. Does this likely mean an increase in rain as its closer to us? Or a decrease as it may lose strength over the soupy gulf waters??

Little rain overnight... steady shower happening here now.
