I need to put the gum boots on and empty the nylex.
Maybe only 20mm away from overflowing, so about 230mm since 09:00 this morning. Backyard has been ankle deep since this morning.

Emptied out 233mm, so not a bad estimate with a half flat torch beam.
Also, right on midnight, so that's a 15hr span. Now I'm hearing some thunder to my north.

Hubby left for work at the airport, though I checked the Qld Dept of Main Roads who say:

Barron / Holloways Beach / Stratford @ Captain Cook Highway

Road closed to all traffic
Both directions
Delays expected
Do not drive in flood waters
Extra information
Detour available via Cairns Western Arterial Road

This is quite an event - though I imagine many people will be missing their flights this morning...

Looking at the radar, looks like there could only be a few more hours left for Cairns and the beaches before it slips to the south???

This rain is just insane. Must be another 50 mm or more since I emptied out 233 mm at midnight.
Enough is enough for now. Let it go south. TSV need some to get Ross dam up from 64%.

Hopefully is. Water just creeping past the sandbags and into our back laundry as I write this. Rang some friends around the Daintree area last night. Some of the levels they spoke about are fairly daunting.

That looks like about it for now.
Next high tide isn't 'til 15:06h, so the water should get away OK.

Looks to slip out to see so maybe south won't get the rain as promised?

What is the current location of that low? That wasn't it right? They were feeder bands I thought?

It's a bit wet this morning, and my gauge overflowed after I emptied it yesterday arvo so better than 350mm .
Be interesting to see how long this hangs around.

Scott: Some houses get flooded, the water go's right back to the ferry turn off, the house there go's under to roof height. there are others as well, but that 1 you might know. Some farms and farm sheds as well.Lots of cattle country and normally a few head end up out at sea.

Cheers

Morning all, 90.2mm out this way. Barron River is very high, can see it from the house.

Awesome falls in and around Cairns. Would be nice for a break now so all the water can drain away. Models seem to think we will but BoM still forecasting a bit for today.

Tinaroo is closing in on 90%

Apparently the Anzac Ave bridge went/is under but the alert still shows it 2m below the bridge. Will see in a few hours when I got to work if it went/is under.

Question for people who record their data. Yesterday during daylight hours my Max temp was 23.4c. This morning, at 5:45am, I received my max temp for the 9am-9am period so far with 24.4c and still could go higher by 9am. Do you record the 23.4c as yesterdays max or the max for the 9-9 period.
