Radar tends to indicate a small vorticity slipping down the coast. Expect a period of heavy rain here in the next hour or so.

It's been raining pretty much all day here but just light stuff. Did not expect such consistent rain today.

Its been disappointing rain wise here today with only some heavy drizzle around 7am. Was some really thick fog though that hung around til past midday. Good day for chopping wood. Going to be a cosy week by the looks. The firewood pile and wine cellar are ready

Today's rain moved South to Sydney's Southern outskirts and the Illawarra where it seems to have been raining all day.

The forecast for tomorrow looks like a rerun of today, with coastal rain/showers this time extending from Newcastle to the Illawarra.

Then there'll be a break of a couple of days before another 'event' starts Thursday, continuing until next weekend. Forecast rain for Sydney for June 19-23 is 20 to 60 mm, with similar totals for Newcastle and Wollongong. Once again the event is coastal, with Penrith getting only 0 to 20 mm.

Less than a week until the winter solstice. Can't wait! The following six months are my favorite.

Just heard on the 7 news weather segment that there is currently "sleety snow" falling in Oberon. Very much doubt that! Also if I had a dollar for every time they mentioned that there is "hail" in the forecast for tomorrow...

Am I the only fellow on here that actually adores the shorter daylight?

It appears that might be the case.

That's a good question.

I actually enjoy the cooler/colder temps of this time of year, but I'm not so struck on the shorter days. Can't have one without the other I suppose, so I can do nothing but accept it.
I love the long late nights of summer, but hate the heat that comes with it.

Anyway, a cold-ish, overcast day here. After this mornings rain, it remained dry after about 10.30 am for the remainder. After a slight warm up over the next few days, it's going to be a decidedly colder end to the week. A real taste of winter.

It's a cool, damp but, at least for that part of the sky I can see, clear night. A near full Moon and Jupiter are riding high in the East. Earlier this evening I saw distant sheet lightning from those cells out to sea off Sydney.

June's been a bit of a mixed bag so far, with 8 of 16 days reaching 20+ and 5 days failing to reach 15.5. Sydney has already had more sub-15 days so far this Winter than for the whole of last Winter - although it only had to beat 2.

EDIT: I think there would be some fog about, given the number of humidity readings above 95%. It will probably be foggy tomorrow morning.

Edit Reason: Fog. Tidy up.

I wondering if there’s a mesoscale Low just off Sydney right now - storms firing and there’s evidence of vorticity.

Really nice cluster of storm cells popping up right on the coastline off Bundeena. Would be some hail in them for sure

Looks like over 100mm rain today in the Royal National Park N/E of Waterfall from that orange blob that is hanging around there.

a great gloomy wet cold winters day, more soaking rain every few days since the snow, love it ... my soil moisture profile is deep again.

We've had hardly anything here, a few light drizzles at most. Hopefully we get something tomorrow.

It's not too often you see Cooma with such consistent single-digit maxima on the forecast, alongside frigid minima (last winter saw almost no single-digit maxima in Cooma):

I must say, that "mint-toothpaste" colour scheme on Weatherzone forecasts for 5°-9° C highs and <–5° C lows, is downright lovely. blush
