Not much better for tomorrow either and not to mention another southerly will be working its way up the coast tomorrow, according to Gfs should be here around lunch time.
Another drizzle fest!!

The good news is Australia Day is looking fantastic in Sydney. Sunny and 33 degrees. Going for 35 up here on the Central Coast. I'm looking forward to that after the total gloomfest of the past few Australia Days.

I hope the southerly today has a storm with it, for the Hunter anyway.

We've been very lucky with the weather this year. Yes Australia day is looking fantastic, as was New Years Day and Christmas Day. Very rare that all 3 days are sunny so I guess we'll be waiting a long time for the next time we get all 3 days good. NY is usually pretty good but the other 2 are hit n miss.

Just heard some thunder, wtf!

Actually the hourly forecast last night did show storms from 6-9am but I ignored it. Must be riding the southerly or something.

We have the thunder, and getting closer. So it's heading north. I was going to walk the dog, but I guess we'll have to wait until this passes.

Yes - hot and sunny as it damn well should be.
Unfortunately a big fail for the cricket test match - match was drawn due to southerly scum and drizzle stopping play.

Quite a few significant events that rely on the weather in Summer. In February the Mardi Gras festivities round it off and then we fade into Autumn and hopefully another Indian Summer.

Getting thunder here now. I think the storms are riding the Southerly.

A small cell passed over the Airport.

This is pretty surprising; I was not expecting storms like this at 08:00 in the morning.

I just got woke by the thunder. Looks like it didn't really have much rain in it for my place. Wish i woke up earlier as it would be interesting to see it as a red core in the distant during sunrise.

I think that's it for storms here. The action passed to my East. It was rumbling for about an hour or so but that's passed. There was no rain here and just 0.4 in the CBD. There were falls of 1 to 3 mm about Sydney's South and East, 7 mm at Cronulla.

It's brightening up now and the cicadas are out.

Temp dropping here now - was warmer but can feel the cooler air now creeping in. Breeze is heavenly.

We got a decent storm just as I was leaving for work, some loud flangs but didn't see the CG's as I was driving the wrong way. Brief heavy rain until about 3km from home, and yeah Brightside good idea, since I saw lots of morning walkers caught out in the rain, obviously not expecting a storm at 6:45am!!

Yeah Sidney I noticed that at Albion Park, pretty strange. The weather can be very weird sometimes and contradict what you would expect. The hot southerly has produced warmer temperatures than the whole week long heatwave we got. But southerlies can often be warmer than NEers in hot airmasses because you get a downslope effect until it weakens and swings around as an E or SEer.

These are good southerlies. grin

Kizz, drizzle ruining the cricket seems to be a mandatory occurence!

That southerly is howling. Lots of white caps on the harbour.

A southerly is only good for wiping out the upwelling on the beaches so it better be doing that.
Otherwise a lot of people's harbour cruise is being ruined for nothing.

Too true Kizz.

Southerly has just come through in the last half an hour, not overly strong or cool at this stage.
