And the reason why the weather has closed in to make for an overcast crappy afternoon.
There's a total lunar eclipse!

Joke is on Sydney weather though - we wouldn't have seen it anyway.

A near stationery cell over Karuah early this afternoon dropped 44mm in just as many minutes according to a PWS in Karuah.

Meanwhile just 15km further east, nothing.

Some of the rain totals have been way above what BOM forecast. Particularly last night with the storms we had here. Storms weren't even in the forecast last evening, yet it was a cracker here.
For us here in the west, it was "chance of a shower. 0-2 mm's Some places received over 40 mm's. The same has happened today.
This one has certainly caught the BOM out.

I know it didn't catch GringosRain out, he was spot on the money.
But its has been a hit and miss event so far for a lot of places, get under a storm and its jackpot time.

Now thats said, I will get a storm tonight and get the mini jackpot, 0.2mm!!

The storms came during the wee hours of the morning. Which BoM did mention that there were possible storms in the morning and afternoon.

Thanks Eddy. Yeah they were a bit behind the 8 ball on this one. GFS was playing with it a bit, but not so much Access, so the BOM only really upgraded their forecast late yesterday I think.

It would have been nice if the upper feature was a bit stronger, but because it isnt that strong, the rain areas and storms have been more scattered. Last nights complex though was a pearler and those that were under it should be very happy. Thing is the same areas keep getting it. I know folk on the central coast hinterland near mangrove and they recon its wet and all the creeks are flowing (that was before last night)
Still horrible here, marginal respite at best.
Waiting for our surprise.....

Hopefully tonight can surprise us all.

Looks like the Newcastle or the Central Coast should have had a nice sunset tonight.
Some nice vibrant colour on the horizon, looking over the bay towards Soldiers Point.

After three virtually sunless days, we have sunny skies with a bit of low cloud drifting in from the NE. It's up to 27 at Sydney OH and 25-27 at most Sydney sites. That light rain we had yesterday wasn't enough to register.

There are light Westerlies at the moment but they won't last. The seabreeze will most likely reach OH is about an hour and slowly work its way inland.

Sydney Airport registered 24 minutes of sunshine in the last 3 days. So nice to see blue sky again.

Harbour is glistening in the hazy sunshine today. The difference from yesterday cannot be overstated.

I can see some little towers way out to my SW, on radar there looks to be a cell that has developed out South of Bathurst.all other cells are from Barrington tops north, and they are moving further north.

yeah Storms would basically have to form at the Northern beaches in Sydney to get here. Maybe right over the Watagans might work too. Will keep hope up for a surprise. There is always a chance!
