61 mm overnight in BP

Models look promising for more juicy falls in the coming days. The Monsoon to our north appears invigorated.

Lets hope the GFS model run comes to fruition with forecast low coming down from PNG crossing the Torres Strait onto Cape York and running down the Cape's interior towards Mt Isa with some good feeders delivering heavy falls right along the coast and inland areas. Yes Please!!!

No, but 66 mm for Holloways if that helps.
From 01:30 to about 04:30, there were some very good bands of rain.

Anyone hear any waterspout reports near Bingil Bay? Was at a mates near North Mission and could see a funnel coming down up that way but couldn't see it below the tree line. Looked pretty cool and dissipated right where I reckon the coast was.

Oh Marakai that is terrible news,
he would of been off to town after the dump if it was mine, lol
It would be hard for me to live without a gauge.

The Rainforest is Wet, with showers pushing onto our coast most of the day.

Cheers

There are all the locations like Cairns, Kuranda, Mareeba, Gordonvale etc with the modelled rainfall total in the images. Just checked it on my tablet and it displays correctly. smile

Have been watching the models also Simmo, seems they both now delay the anticipated low from heading south by 48hrs, later than the earlier forecasts. Expected rainfall totals have also increased over the forecast period.

Looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds.

Might have to postpone our hike this coming weekend.

Will be interesting Pac.
What I am also interested to see is how close GFS will be with this event. It was forecasting an inland cape low way back on its 00z Thursday 17th run and has pretty much stuck with it apart from differences with timing as you stated.

Sorry for the delayed response DU, but itís been pretty difficult logging into this site until today. On Saturday morning I tipped 96mm out of the guage, from 24 hours. Most of that I am sure was from the heavy rain that fell 3:00am +++ Apparently whilst you were sleeping!... donít know how the heck you slept through that! 😀☔️⚡️

Was wondering about that, I had difficulty too, but managed to get in the long way.

No rain here of course. Felt like it was going to happen with moisture in the air, then the next minute there's a dry wind. Alternating for most of the day.

Definitely been super slow loading times for the weatherzone forum pages. Has been taking anywhere from 1-4 minutes. It is the only page running slow on the web so it must be their server.

Forecast rain still holding true this morning from GFS and EC. Looking likely to be a very wet weekend. BoM slowly increasing the weekends rainfall with each forecast update.
