Things about to get interesting for many areas, especially the lower Hunter as the line moves slowly toward the coast.

Your a stormy magnet Quagmelson, I think we need you up in the Hunter for a week or two!! laugh

Looks like some handy falls around the place, nothing here overnight, I did get up a few times during the night to look out the window to see if there was any action and there was nothing here to see.

Hopefully today can produce the goods.

Current weather is overcast and still, Temp 22.7c, Dewpoint 21c Humidity 88%.

Got a very nice light show out of that cell, that more or less developed out of nothing. No Rain or Thunder initially, but constant CG/CC lightning. Rain and Thunder started in the early hours of the Morning, around 20mls here from that smile

Managed 7.5mm and a nice freshen up, but so close to the heavy stuff, which was all south. Light show for hours in the wee hours...

The upper low is basically centred right over me this afternoon. This could create some nice convergence areas and the potential for some heavy rain and flash flooding or it could just mean that the bulk of everything stays north in the more westerly shear. Can only hope. Would love 75mm from a slow convergence....

We just got some light drizzle last night here. It's a very calm morning with every station in the Illawarra coastal area registering no wind at all at 10:10am.

Cloudy but brightening up here, enough to start the cicadas. I noticed when I got up that it had been raining. Just checked the radar now. Storms had reached Northern Sydney as far the Hornsby area around 4:00, but apparently not further South. Chatswood picked up 8 mm, although Sydney OH only managed 0.4. There were good falls in Sydney's North and West: Penrith 40 mm; Richmond 37; Hornsby 26.

I slept through it.

Beacon Hill got a brief downpour shortly after 4. Gutters overflowing and one pathetic distant rumble of thunder.

Sun is breaking through more frequently in the CBD now. Hopefully this trend continues. Two days of gloomy overcast is enough thank you very much.

Definitely a north shore and north west event.
I experienced same as Quagmelson - heavy rain, close lightning strikes, window rattling thunder that seemed to roll on for ages, all in that 2- 5.00 am period.
There's no way anyone around here could have slept through it, that's for sure. It was incredibly loud. A real surprise.

Had a look at the Dubbo temperature 'spike'. It coincided with an easing of winds and brief slowing of the rain rate, so it seems plausible to me (or at least internally consistent).

Penrith has a temperature again.

Wonder if it was instrument or comms fault.

Hoping for the latter and fearing it was the former.

There's what appears to be a quite lightning-active storm passing through Sydney's South-West.

It's closed in here, with a bit of light rain.

Stifling humidity today, even though it's not particularly warm.

The "Layers" satellite image seems to be showing a circuluation (low?) centred between Mudgee and Lithgow.
